Cool. So these are made from pre-preg?
|
No. They are heated metal molds then pressed.
|
If these are "dry carbon" why do you clear them to make them look like normal, hand laid wet carbon?
Could you explain the process for us? My understanding of carbon was that "dry carbon" is pre-preg which uses an autoclave to cure. Anything that isn't per-impregnated with resin is, technically, not "dry carbon." I'm no expert but that is my understanding of it. |
pre-preg is not dry carbon.

Lot's of companies like to throw around "dry carbon" just because they are not doing a wet lay-up. That's false advertising. ;) |
What does "dry carbon fiber" mean ? The questions to ask when someone tells you their parts are "dry carbon fibre" - The Tuners Group
So which sort or processes are used to make these parts? |
Like you said it does not require any resin when making the parts. But the surface looks very rough and has tinny holes on it. Don't think most people want this kind of look on interior parts. This is why we clear coat it 7 times to fill in the holes and make it glossy and smooth surface. I will take photo of the reverse side. You will understand what I mean.

Interesting.
CF that doesn't need resin? |

Will the price be less since it's pressed?
