Instrument Cluster swap, none-sport models for sport model ones?

Has anyone ever had the desire to do this?

I bought a 2009 touring 6MT, I prob shouldve waited until I found a sport model versus waiting for a touring model.

I guess it's more like a normal car now, but I wouldnt mind having the dash cluster with telling you what gear you are in, and shift light.

Anyone know if this has ever been attempted? even for the Nismo one/sport one?

im in for this swap

you might have to check wiring on the service manual to see if its possible and check if the wiring is there... if it is cool!!

I always wanted the gear change to be my V1 display............

in for results... always wanted the gear change on my cluster... :(

I have factory shift light and no sport pkg.

The only thing I can imagine for this to work is you may need the syncro-rev wiring harness for your none-syncro-rev vehicle. Which means installing it on your transmittion. I cant imagine nissan making two different manual transmissions.

Might as well buy the syncro rev when go to swap out clusters.

wouldn't mind seeing this happen. In for the swap!

Anyone care to try it? By luck I found this:

2009 NISSAN 370Z COUPE USED SPEEDOMETER CLUSTER W/57K MI | eBay

My 2009 touring only has 12,500 miles on it, this cluster reads out like 55k miles lol

Or go official NISMO from Japan.

I wonder if you could just extract the tachometer and apply it to mine... I just want the tachometer, lol

simota1 09-02-2012 01:33 AM

if i upgrade i would definitely get a nismo cluster....

dont bother swapping out, shift light is to low to even be useful and if you need to see what gears your in then its pointless... add a prosport tach gauge with the add on light and you will be more than happy, beside if you swap out the cluster, you not only have to go to the DMV but loose value on the Z

Shotta 09-03-2012 09:32 PM

The shift light is set by the user.

asdfsammich 09-03-2012 09:42 PM

^^^ Yep, you can set it to go off at whatever RPM (increments of 100 I think).

you dont have to go to the DMV...where did you hear that? you just have to find an odometer that is close to yours (i never said this is legal though :tiphat:). only nissan can reprogram the mileage on the odometer, and im positive that they wont.

martin82 09-04-2012 01:33 AM

if u pay they will put the correct mileage on there LOL!!

They will. You can call them and ask. I talked to a Nissan rep and they said before they send out a new cluster they need the mileage off mine so they can program it.

Anyone done this?
