Left wiper not working

Car is ~5 months old and was in an accident (deer). After several attempts at getting things fixed at the body shop, everything seemed fine. Coming home from dinner tonight it rained. Tried to turn on the wipers and there was a loud "thump" noise and the left wiper would not work.

Once I got home I took a look and the assembly is "limp" - best way I can describe it. The right wiper won't move if I push on it but the left one just kinda flops around.

Any ideas?

Have an appointment with the shop again tomorrow but would rather not bug them if it's an easy fix.

I've had this happen before on a different car and the wiper went on a splined shaft and had a bolt that tightened it. The bolt had simply come loose, allowing the shaft to turn but it didn't have enough "grip" to move the wiper arm.

So I placed the arm in the correct position and tightened it down. I can't look at my Z right now to see if it has a similar mount but it may have just come loose similarly, and it is extremely easy to fix, just make sure you get it on there at the right angle relative to the other wiper.

You'd have to get access to the motor it to see if the bad wiper arm is still hooked up.

I'm assuming the ideas the same as the old skool cars wipers

Forgot to post - but you guys were right. Fixed it myself in about 5 minutes - bolt just needed to be tightened.

Had this same issue on my '09 Z - was in a terrible storm and had wipers going at max, and all of a sudden the left one stopped working. Barely got home and ended up fixing it by tightening the bolt.
