All of that for a door handle cover? Best of luck selling it.

Here. Granted it's the whole armrest, but is this what you're looking for?

I'll take a set if it's done right. I have the light grey Alcantara, and I'm deathly afraid of getting it dirty....especially from a mechanic someday. If it looked good, I would definitely go for something like that.

I looked at this when I was trying to see if anything similar had been done before.

No, this is not what I meant. I am speaking only of the pull, i.e., where your hand goes to pull the door shut which is about 4" long, angled cut (or not) to mirror the interior lines of the door (or not)

Many years ago in some very high end luxury cars, this area (the pull) was wood to match the wood on the dash/console etc.

I'm not a big fan of carbon fiber but here is a carbon fiber use that might enhance the interior for some while actually being of some functional benefit.

This is a low cost mod.

I also have the light grey ... I believe I know how to do it right. Right to me means stellar appearance and quality. If it couldn't be done high quality, I wouldn't want anything to do with it

But I'm not making it. I wanted to find someone that had the respect of the forum, so I could have them build it to my specifications.

tony the CF elements guy has high reps for doing nice interior CF work.

Mr. Kenchan,
Thanks for the info.

Interesting idea, I might be interested in something like that if like others have said it's done tastefully. Good luck! Lets see some prototypes!

:iagree: Someone had to ask...

I like the idea... my alacantra by the handle is faded from the fat fingered f*ck that owned my car before me. This would prevent further damage while covering the part. Problem would be making it look factory... maybe something that replaces the plastic inside our door handle that is already there and raps around the outside.

HArturo319 07-10-2012 06:14 PM

I like the idea. you can add accent colors, make it pop.

bigdog1250 07-10-2012 06:17 PM

I think it's a solid idea. Like how it would help prevent wear, but I think it will be hard to make it blend into the interior.

Get us some sketches/prototypes to view and we can say whether or not we'd buy it.

cheshirecat 07-10-2012 11:14 PM

I like the idea. The fit and finish would have to be top notch though since its such a high profile piece.

Good luck in whatever you are trying to produce.

and get ready to pay at least $10k probably more like $30k for this effort.
