removing blue paint on the fangs
Normally i wet sand and paint anything i do when i do paint.i noticed that the factory paint is peeling on some spots on the fangs and guess whats underneath ? black.
the color i am wanting to do to get rid of the blue.my question is,does anyone know if a paint thinner or something of the sort will finish taking the paint off so i wouldnt have to paint it and worry about chipping ? surely someone else has thought of this and had good results maybe ? or am i just going to have to break down and sand it ? i appreciate any and all help from those who have experience in painting the fangs or simply using something that will just take off the paint. and please dont suggest aircraft stripper.:) |
The paint is so thin on the fangs that im going to try some dot 3 brake fluid and see if that works tonight.hopefully it will,it will give me the blacked out fang look without ever having to worry about chipping.wish me luck ! :)

so you're basically trying to strip the paint down to the primer?
I can think of several options that are less damaging than that which give you the look you want, but I'm guessing that's not what you're looking for. |

edit;from the way it looks.the original owner had the fangs paint matched to the car but didnt do a good job.i may be wrong, but thats what it looks like. |
i would sand that part off, re-prime, and paint the fang matte black using OIL BASED paint... like enamel.

You would never get a clean look by trying to strip the paint... sure the bulk may come out ok, but any body lines would look like raw @ss.
