opinion needed guys =]

alright... so im debating about brakes now..... NOW before the mods move this to the brakes section... im not asking about brakes for performance but rather looks.... so i wanted everyones input that way i could know if im making a right decision or wrong one..... now that im done with the body officially... my stock rotors look so bland to me so im :stirthepot: thinking if i should....

i have the non sport brakes.... i painted them in high temp semi black to hide them.... now i was wondering do you guys think i should just get the z1 upgraded cross drilled rotors and SS lines

OR should i get a oem nissan BBK with 2 piece rotors like my original plan.....

i just think its an absolute waste of money to spend 3k on my brakes when i dont even race her.... rather just for show..... tell me what you guys think.... also the biggest reason i wanna get oem BBK rather than stop tech,ap racing and other BBKs out there, other than its cheaper.... i wanna be able to go to a local store and BUY brake pads... i dont wanna go through the hassle of having to wait for brake pads....

What OEM Nissan 2 piece Rotor BBK are you talking about?

Oh wait you mean get the Akebono brakes then install 2 piece rotors?

jpritche 06-15-2012 06:54 PM

The ones that come with the sport package.

red6spd 06-15-2012 06:55 PM

I would go with the OEM sport brake hardware, maybe even try and find a used set then upgrade rotors lines pads etc. Maybe even find a set in red from a 40th.

precisely  i think they are called dba floating rotors.... z1 performance sells em for like 600 a pair..... i think daisuke had em on his z they looked beautiful

ZMan8 06-15-2012 06:56 PM

I think the Z1 kit would be cheaper for you

I have the 2 piece rotors from Racing Brake with the sport calipers. Very high quality. They are lighter than the DBA 2 piece.

^^^ how much are they? how do they look?

I was part of a group buy... so I was able to get the front and rear rotors, pads, and ss lines for around 1700 shipped. I'm not sure what the original price is now but I know they are pretty pricey..

damn bro..... that puts it way outa my budget..... i guess if i do get the two piece rotors ill still get the DBA's

I hear two peice rotors can throw off balance and cause vibration but i do not have experiencenwith that.

Honestly the oem akenbono paired with some stoptech powerslot rotors, hawk pads and stainless lines give the brakes a whole new feel with a nicer overall appearance. Not too harsh on the wallet. I got a good deal on the powerslots front and rear and hawk pads from Tunerz store on here. Grabbed the stainless lines at my local shop and the lines made the biggest difference. At the very least get some stainless lines with what ever you get if you don't already have them!

And here's a guy selling oem calipers!

Even though you're going from stock to "stock," you'll notice a nice upgrade in brake bite and feel... possibly longevity. I'm at 12K and I'm noticing a little brake squeak now. Should probably replace them...

Red calipers? Black calipers? Silver? White? PURPLE?!
