Wire Turn Signal to Break Lights

As you all know, many cars have gotten rid of the yellow light altogether and have the break lights serve as turn signals. This is what I would like to do with the 370z.

Is it possible to wire the turn signal into the break lights? The end result being that when you turn on the turn signal the break light blinks. I hate that with our cars we still have yellow bulb turn signals, seems so 90s.

I've been thinking about this as well... I see one major issue... if you are braking and turning at the same time you probably won't get the flash which is a major problem obviously.

Side rant: The Murano was doing this years before the 370z... really Nissan? Really?

direct replacement led bulbs - now you have a red turn signal. i dont remember the size but im sure v-leds or ijdmtoy has something thatll work

edit: actually i think those are it but i would confirm first

and it wont void your warrenty for cutting and splicing things that arent supposed to be touched on our cars

I've actually preferred the yellow turn signal. I just hate the egg yolk problem, so I've got to get going on my idea of changing them to chromed amber bulbs.

I thought of this too. A simple solution would be to simply have the turn signal be the alpha, so the it takes precedence over the brake signal. However, I have no idea how this would be done or if it really is simple.

Yeah, I've got some chrome bulbs in my ebay basket for both the front and back. Just haven't pulled the trigger yet.

RED 54 LED TURN/BRAKE LIGHT BULBS 7443 7440 | 1 PAIR

These would give the yellow light, but it wouldn't have the yellow LED look would it? Its made to give light off like a bulb and reflect in the housing, not like the LEDs in the brake light.

interesting, I am sure it can be done.

Davis - those bulbs I posted will illuminate red but im not 100% on the size, youd have to double check that. I have the amber versions front and rear cuz I don't mind amber bulbs, I just hate amber lenses. When they aren't illuminated the lense is clear and the "bulb" so to speak is white in color so you don't notice it. When they illuminate theyre bright and are what ever color LED youve chosen, red in this case and amber in my case. If you'd like I can try and capture a shot of my blinker on later so you can see what it'll look like.

Also LEDs blink fast, it's not something that bothers me but it bothers some people.

Let me know if you want to make your own stupid bright signal bulbs. I haven't tried red, but my amber bulbs are stupid bright. Well, it looks great during the day. Painted silver to keep it looking clear.

An LED blinker bulb has a few problems... as others stated you won't have the same OEM look because it is just meant to replace a standard bulb... won't look OEM.

The other is that your blinkers will flash faster without a resistors (which I don't like) and I'm pretty unsure about using resistors after watchign them melt through wiring on a newer BMW.

Not sure about the resistor thing either but that's the only way to slow them down unless you find some sort of loaded LED bulb but as far as the OEM thing it doesn't look any different really. Just brighter, unless your disassembling the taillight housing and putting a LED board across the entire turn signal area these are just drop in bulbs that really don't look different behind that lense

I should have clarified... they don't look like an OEM LED turn signal (like our brakes). They look like a regular halogen just brighter with instant on. Def a plus but not as nice as a full boarded LED setup...

Basically I would like it to look like the first gen Murano (I think the later 350s did this as well).

No need to buy replacement bulbs. A light coat of chrome paint to the original amber bulb will do the trick. The light will still be as bright when it blinks as it normally was, and no more egg yolk. :tiphat:

Just some regular chrome paint? Any brand/type recommendations? I live in FL if the heat/sun could affect it..I certainly would love to spend $8 bucks to get chrome bulbs as opposed to $30 to replace the front and rear..

Yeah, I don't mind the amber bulbs either, its just the look of the bulb as opposed to the LED format/look that our brake lights have. Even those LED bulbs with all those LEDs will still blink fast? I've considered resistors but if LEDs won't change the look compared to a bulb I'm not sure I want to go that route.

This looks crazy. You painted the LEDs chrome?

Has anyone tried a dark chrome/gray paint to see if the bulb reflection will give the turn signal/reverse lights a smoked look?
