Rear View Mirror Vibration/Rattle???

I have a base model with the standard (without the Homelink) rear view mirror. Every time I play the radio, the bass causes the mirror to vibrate even at a relatively low volume. This is the first car I have owned that does this. And the stereo is stock! Anyone else have this problem?

It almost sounds as if the manual anti-glare feature of your mirror is out of whack. Take it in for service as it is under warranty.

That's pretty normal - it's a resonance issue. The stock stereo has a bunch of boom at whatever frequency the mirror rattles at. My stock stereo does the same thing.

Having rented *lots* of rental cars, I can say that a good percentage of cars do this, especially if they have a boomy set of front speakers.

Of course, any car with good subs will be able to do the same thing - I used to be able to darn near tell which note was being played by looking at the mirror in my old Tacoma. You could just look at it as a point of pride, that the lowly stock stereo can vibrate the mirror ;)

Yeah, mine does it too (touring/sport) - my Honda Civic does it too, though not nearly as much.

The interesting thing to think about - if it's moving the mirror like that, what's it doing to your ears/eardrums!

evidently not much to mine. i have a stereo that has a good bit of bass and have had decent systems in the past. yet, i still have better hearing than alot of my friends that don't even have a system.

I think it has to do with how it's mounted - if it's hung off the roof it'll probably vibrate more, as there's more length to resonate.
