Automatic Door Locking

Anyone knokw how to shut off the automatic door locking once you drive off? I can find how to change the UNLOCK, but not the locking, which I find annoying to all ends. Never had a car before where that couldn't be turned off. I'd even pay someone to write a patch to fix it if necessary.

From the 2009 manual, page 3-5:

The automatic lock and unlock functions can be deactivated or activated indepen-dently of each other. To deactivate or activate the automatic door lock or unlock system, perform the following procedure:

1. Close all doors.
2. Place the ignition switch in the ON position.
3. Do one of the following within 20 seconds of performing step 2:
. To change AUTO UNLOCK settings: push and hold the power door lock switch to the UNLOCK position for more than 5 seconds.
. To change AUTO LOCK settings: push and hold the power door lock switch to the LOCK position for more than 5 seconds.
4. When activated, the hazard indicator will flash twice. When deactivated, the hazard indicator will flash once.
5. The ignition must be placed in the OFF and ON position again between each setting change.

The 2011 manual says only the automatic unlock function can be disabled, so they may have removed the automatic lock disable, or the 2009 manual may be wrong (I haven't tried it.)

I never knew that you could do this. I think it is pretty nice to have the doors lock automatically once you start driving. I am pretty anal about having my doors locked once I am in the car, so I am all for leaving it as is.

Nice didn't know you could do this manually. I am able to control it from my Nav screen.

Interesting - in my 2012 manual they left out the sentence about changing the AUTO LOCK feature. But I just tried it, and it appears to have worked (I'll know when I drive it later today). The lights flashed once just like they do when you deactivate the AUTO UNLOCK feature, etc.

What the stupid lawyers have cost us! They probably left out that part due to fear of being sued.

Well it worked. Using the "LOCK" reset now keeps the thing from automatically locking when I drive away. Thanks to WilsonP for the input on it.

How does auto unlock work? Just after the car is turned off?

When you hit the ignition to shut the car off the doors are unlocked.
