Adding Door Lights??

I am thinking about putting in door lights on the bottom of the door like the G35 has. The ones that shine onto the ground. Anyone do this or think it's cool. My buddy has a G and anytime he gets out of his car I see them and love the way they look. What do you guys think? I am probably going to do the install soon. Will post pics when I am done.

Install is done Here is a link to the DIY

its not that hard really..just get a prewired LED board, connect the red wire to a 12v constant source, tap the black (ground wire) to the door sensor switch. once you know where the wires are, it literally takes 5min to tap into them. then all you have to do is mountt he lights somewhere

unless im imagining things...dont we already have that red square reflector thing at the bottom of our doors? (i havent been around my z in quite a while) cant seem to recall..but if it is there, that seems like a logical spot to mount?

Nissan now offers LED welcome lights that run along under the car by the door. I saw they had it installed on a Maxima, it looked good and not cheap or tacky. Its an accessory from Nissan so I'm sure you can order it. I think it's like almost 175$ or something like that.

I just ordered the trunk light assembly that we have in our cars (ordered from courtesyparts, it was like $40). I cut holes in the door panels and they fit in there like a glove. I feel like an idiot for not thinking to wiring them to the door switch like chop said. I spent a little while trying to find a way to wire to the dome light circuit so they would only come on when the doors are open. I eventually decided to get the illuminated door sills to tap into those, but now I will just wire them up today and then post some pics for everyone.

I will do a DIY for this on my next day off. Unfortunately that is not for like a week... It's pretty simple though.

1.) I ordered these: Trunk Lamps

2.) Cut a hole in the bottom of each door panel for the light to fit into it.

3.) Ran wire through the door jam and connected the positive to constant 12V power, and the negative to the door switch. There is only 1 wire that goes to that switch tap into that wire for the ground.

I will do the complete DIY for this when I get some time and keep you guys posted. I also ordered These Lights to make them a little bit brighter. Thanks for all your interest and input.

:iagree: good looking puddle lights. my G35C has them too from the factory and very useful in the non-DLS months.

That looks awesome. Only thing I might do is get a better LED light to make it brighter. Can't wait for the DIY!
