Gas door not locking..?

Even when the car is locked, the gas door can be pushed to open it... Isn't it supposed to lock when the car is locked?

370zmarc 04-13-2012 11:20 PM

yes.

Is the key in your pocket?

JAYNO20 04-13-2012 11:35 PM

No key is in the house with the car locked. The gas door doesn't lock.

Probably sticking. Lubricate the pin that you see when the door is open.

I don't see a pin... Is there any pictures showing what it should look like?

Unlock your doors, open the lid then lock your doors. The pin in the lower left should pop out.

Wow when it's unlocked I can't even see a pin I'll try locking it and see but judging by that picture mine looks to be broken off..

JAYNO20 04-14-2012 11:49 AM

Yeah it's definitely broken off. I can see it move when I lock and unlock the car but it doesn't stick out at all.... Warranty issue you think?

2004YZFR1 04-14-2012 12:49 PM

They should cover it on your warranty.

Does that white part come off? If so what's it called? I want to see how much it would be to change...

^should be able to access this by removing the rear bumper. i haven't done one on the z but have done some on other cars. just be careful its not a long cable that requires lots of other parts to be removed. courtesy parts should be able to order it for you though

bfowlzr33 12-16-2012 02:47 PM

Mine isn't working either I've noticed it still will open even while my doors are locked. I'll have to check it out

FairladyZ 12-16-2012 02:56 PM

Are you sure its broken?

Mine was stuck in and i had to mess with it so it can pop out then i lubed it.
