Vinyl wrapped the roof and rear defuser

So I vinyl wrapped the roof and rear defuser of my car this weekend, or rather I had it done. I think it came out pretty well. However, I am going to have to get the antenna bit redone as it is peeling a bit. They tried to do the fang area, but said that it just wouldn't work without relief cuts, and he didn't want nasty lines. May have to get that done by a painter.

Looks sweet, how much was the vinyl wrap for the diffuser?

Nurburgr1ng 04-09-2012 12:04 AM

looks good! I did my roof and rear valence overlays as well and really loved how it turned out. I paid $150 for the whole thing (material and install).

Very nice, thinking on doing the same thing.

The antenna was wrapped just like the roof (i.e. with the same film). I think the best way to do it is to take the antenna off though so the antenna cover can be wrapped around the edges. I didn't have that done, but the edges are peeling just a bit already so will have to get it fixed.

Nice I have painted fangs and rear diffuser. Been contemplating doing my roof.

I am usually not a fan for vinyl wraps on street cars, but this one looks really good....very clean job especially once the antenna portion is fixed.

Illmatic370z 04-09-2012 10:37 AM

Nice job! Im looking to get my roof done pretty soon.

TerribleONE 04-09-2012 10:43 AM

looks good.. cant decide if I want to paint my roof or wrap it.. the wrap looks nice to me though and definitely a little cheaper

b1adesofcha0s 04-09-2012 10:47 AM

Looks great! I'm planning on getting my roof wrapped as well. How much was it for the roof with the antenna?

Thanks! Roof and antenna was $180.

kenchan 04-09-2012 11:40 AM

wow.. that's pricy for labor. took about 2hrs total? film alone is like $35-40?

twinturbonet 04-09-2012 11:42 AM

Where do you get this type of mod done at? Paint/Body Shop?

kenchan 04-09-2012 11:42 AM

tint shop maybe?

I went to a shop that does tint and vinyl wrap. Not sure I would want a tint shop that had never done wrap before experimenting on my car.

Looks great! :tiphat:

Eh, I tend to believe you get what you pay for, but I didn't bother trying to price shop too much. The guy did my tint too, is nice, and is convenient to where I live. I will pay a bit more to go back to someone who has done right by me before.

i install these things myself so that's why it was a big surprise to me. if you're happy there is no issue here and you dont need to explain why either.

b1adesofcha0s 04-09-2012 01:36 PM

I considered trying this myself, but I think I'd feel better with a shop warranty in case it starts to bubble/peel.

depends on your technique and material used, but it shouldn't bubble or peel at all if done right. :)

Dark Sarcasm 04-09-2012 01:41 PM

Roof looks good.

Well material used would be good (most likely 3M), but considering I've never done this before I don't know how my technique would be.

Shadax 04-09-2012 03:55 PM

Looks really good.

How do I go about getting this done (who do I look up to take care of this for me)? I'd love to get my roof, front valence, rear diffuser and tail lights (I'm in Lancaster, CA if anyone knows anyone).

Also, how do you care for it when it comes to washing, road debris, etc?

Thanks!

I was told that you care for it just the same as paint. I have already noticed, though, that the vinyl is more apt to get swirl marks than paint so make sure to use very soft clothes on it.

Bluebatmobile 04-09-2012 04:36 PM

Its amazing what you can do with vinyl :D.

Can you do a distance picture with a focus on the roof?
Thinking that with a gloss vinyl roof wrap and tinted rear window it will flow great.

b1adesofcha0s 04-09-2012 04:59 PM

Yeah it looks like it should cost like $45 for enough vinyl to do the roof. I may try this out some day.

Yeah, I will try to get one. It actually goes so well that it's a bit hard to photograph. Hard to explain, but I'll try to get some more shots.
