180 Customs Headlight work

Well I got a good amount of tax money back and decided to get some cosmetic work done on my Z.

Landing Strip
Dual Orb LED Rings
Housing Silver
Projector Shroud Gloss Black
Turn Signal Shroud
Landing Strip

I wasn't going to do the Housing change until I saw during the process that it wasn't looking good with the stock chrome, and went with a silver color. I think it turned out well, 180 has a nice place and they were all very professional. My only concern now it just how long the LEDs will last because I will be annoyed if 1 landing strip light burns out.

^ yeah one of my concerns as well if I decide to go that route.

Looks awesome man! I've been wanting to get rid of the orange reflectors on mine but don't want to risk headlight oxidation down the road.

Damn they look good!!!

LED's have a very long life.

The Dimer 04-04-2012 06:32 PM

That's what I want to do with mine, except make the silver pearl white. They looks really good!

Sick...how much did that setup run? I def want to do something like that but dunno how I will be down a week since its my DD. I guess I could ride the bike for a week rain or shine.

Looks good, I like the silver, its different than what other people are doing with the housings.

I wish someone would do a DYI write up on the LED rings aournd the bulbs. I've got the paint and supplies to make paint my lights but I kinda want to add some LEDs while I'm in there.

My landing strips lasted a little over a year, and I now have 3 LED's burnt out. Looks like crap, so I installed a switch that turns them all off until I can get them repaired.
Btw, it wasn't 180 that did the instal. It was the other guys on the forum who no longer do headlights.

Mine too! Lasted exactly 1 year until the LEDs gave me trouble. Damn you MRWORKS! They were expensive as F! They wire the landing strip LEDs in series of 3 , so if 1 die out, all three flicker. Ive repaired them 2 times now with the same LEDs sourced by MRWorks and within 2 or the 3 months they flickered again. The problem is not the craftsmanship but the cheap quality LEDs they used.

Your headlights look great! Although I would have gone with a darker housing color.

looks amazing! especially love the dual orbs. this is a mod i've always wanted but hard to drop that much coin. this has definitely swayed me back!

Can't wait to see the finished product.

Yes it did cost a bit when I think about it but the alternative is to do it yourself. That takes time and effort which isn't free either. The costs are exactly what they are on their thread, http://www.the370z.com/body-interior...er-2011-a.html.

Regarding LED life I know working in the lighting industry (airfield) the 5mm diameter http://media.ziptied.com/media/JZX100/images/p1.jpg LEDs from china (almost all are) are garbage. They quote 10,000 to 50,000 hours life all the time but they are just plain lying, they make 1 for a test using high quality materials then the production ones are made as cheap as possible with no quality control which translates to an average life of 1,000 to 5,000hrs or less depending on the random quality. I can rant for hours about LEDs but I won't.

In the end I am just making a conscious effort to not use them all the time and since I don't drive this car that often I expect them to last a long time.
