Floor Board issue!
Hey guys,
New to the forum, just got my 370Z a week ago. Decided its probably ideal to do an oil change after the first 500 miles. Anyways, I'm not very mechanically inclined, so I let me roommate complete my oil change. After everything was finished, noticed my floor board on my drivers side was up about 2 inches higher. He must have jacked it up using that part underneath. Luckily, we didn't feel or see anything severe was damaged, but it was definitely pushed up. I took out the foam insert that's underneath the carpeting, that obviously made everything flush again. I took a picture to show, because I don't know if its worth fixing, if its anything serious, or if its nothing to worry about. Regardless, we couldn't find any openings, even though the black "soft" stuff you see looks cracked, it actually pushed together with my fingers. Please give me your thoughts. Thanks. http://www.theshitpond.com/bike/zfloor.jpg |
Well he pushed the sheet metal up that's for sure. You can hammer it back down into place so it will be flush again and reinstall the styrofoam. The black stuff is like a insulation tar.
I wouldn't let him do anymore work on your car. You can look up the proper jacking points with the search engine. Good luck! |
The black cracks are sealer/sound proofing. Do you have any pictures from under the vehicle? You'll want to look under the vehicle for any serious damage like cracked welds, etc.

Yikes! Buy some ramps for next time.

Please don't let you roommate touch your car or open flames in your kitchen...

yikes...

Wow!
After murdering your roomate while he sleeps, a rubber mallet could probably fix that as long as the metal wasn't puctured. Take it to a shop from now on. Your buddy could have been killed if the car jack punched thru the floor board! |
