Vented hood thread

Hey guys. I just got my Seibon BD hood installed today.
For those of you who have vented hoods, what do you do when it rains? and how do you wash it? And do you have other problems with your hoods?

Looks great. How was the install?

Your hood looks nice! I had my body shop installed my hood for me...they put some mesh for me and lexan to keep most of the rain/water out. I had a seibon carbon fiber hood on my G35 and it was vented like yours and rain or car wash didnt do anything but make the engine more dirty

OP, the engine is fine if water gets on it. As far as washing, treat it like the rest of your car.

Also, you may want to get the hood clear coated unless it seldom sees sunlight. The gel coat doesn't help much when it comes to UV exposure and yellowing of the CF/gel coat.

what hood is that? ^

Thanks!
pretty easy, make sure you have 2 extra ppl helping you. the clips for the windshield washer fluid wouldn't fit in the holes CF has, need minor modifications. in general really easy!

Damn, that actually looks pretty bad *** OP. I would def paint or buy to mesh tho. That Seibon **** suckkkks. I found some good grills to replace on my hood and bumpers if you are interested PM me.

As far as rain/washing goes. I dont really drive my car in the rain, but have been caught in the occasional freak of nature down pour, plus I was my car alot. I have no problems with the water. And my vents (TS style hood) are a little bit more over where the MAF sensors or for the intakes, still no problems over about 5K plus miles on the car. I wouldnt worry about it, especially with your hood.

I still have mesh around both vents. I have had no problems with water so far.
