gauge mounting solution ideas

so i am looking to go FI soon which means i will be adding boost and afr gauges into the mix. the problem i am running into is i have a nav in my car so mounting gauges in the cubby hole is out. Also, don't currently have the money to do something like an HKS camp 2. also, after speaking to DIGItonium, he told me about the complete hassle of trying to replace the stock 3 dash gauges with boost/afr/etc. i am trying to avoid going down that path.

sooooo here i am.. stuck on where the hell to mount some gauges or a display that will look decent. as far as i know there are no available pillar pods for our cars because of the srs.

anyone have any ideas?

(i know the above post has kinda eliminated a few solutions)

i would definitely use the modshack ver2 bracket to mount your display up high infront of the cubby hole. (checkout my albums page). you can use any universal nuvi type bracket on the ball joint.

or check with baer if he can make you a cool a-pillar he did for his ride. :)

Baer383 made a dual mount for the a pillar. people i think are trying to convince him to make more :p

That is EXACTLY what i would want. we need to get a vendor on this...

i like that, but i wouldnt be able to use gauges at that point. would need to go with a display

I way we go take over Baer's thread and beg for him to make a batch of these things :D

wish there was a vendor that can make a bezel for a 7" tablet or something. :)

Agreed with both. having a nav is really a double edged sword. its great to have but really f's up gauge solutions for FI guys

I went with a PLX Devices setup. It lets me monitor OBD II parameters, Boost, AFR, and Oil Pressure. I am happy with how it turned out!

Guys, it's simple to graft on some pods to the stock pillar. You can use 3M tape and rivets to secure it, then cover it in suede or material to match the head liner.

Just buy a spare pillar cover from Nissan, a junk yard, or use your original.

You can cover the passenger pillar in the same material so it matches.

For the PLXDevices Multi-guage, to read boost pressure did you need to buy the separate boost sensor module?

Ron 02-24-2012 01:54 PM

yes, nowhere else to get a signal from since the car is NA from factory

Perf.Des 02-24-2012 01:55 PM

true. was just wondering if it read off the map sensor as a boost reading.

kenchan 02-24-2012 02:10 PM

ummmm... edub wants a large display i think... not a simple guage pod.

ellioti- looks

Yup, had to get their sensor module for boost, as well as modules for AFR and Oil Pressure. It will read the AFR value from the ECU, but I wanted something completely separate.

I don't have any better pictures right now, but I really like the functionality of the gauge. It will let you set custom warnings for any of the items displayed, and does peak/hold, and some other pretty cool stuff.
