Touch Up Paint

I'd like to do some touch up work on my Z (Brilliant Silver), anyone have any suggestions as to what brand of touch up paint to use?

Thanks

if you're looking for something for rock chips or similar, I'd highly recommend looking into a Dr. ColorChip Repair Kit. The stuff works awesome and really gives a better result than just trying to do touch-ups with regular touch-up paint and a brush! I've used it on several vehicles, including recently on my PG roadster. The paint match was spot-on.

Just FYI if you decide to go that route, the nissan dealership carries touch of paint for your vehicle, perfect color match as well. Bought a bottle for myself. :tiphat:

beware of automotive touchup. Their customer service is terrible and their color match is way off. I would avoid them at all costs

Hmmm?

I've used their products on two different vehicles and never had a problem with the color match. Satisfied customer here.

Dr. Colorchip match was identical and the kit makes professional looking touchups a breeze.

i use the nissan brand. got it from one of the vendors here when i bought something. :)

silvers are hard to match. even the closest will not match because you can't control the direction of the metallic particles. that changes the light/darkness of the appearance.

Just ordered from Dr. Color Chip. Thanks for the recommendation guys!

I actually just used the Dr. color chip on my PW yesterday... with PW being a tri-coat i wasn't expecting anything amazing but I gotta say, I'm damn impressed! Afterward, in extreme bright sun, I am hard pressed to find the spots I touched up. The system they have makes it pretty fool-proof to get pro results. :tiphat:

Agreed. If you've got the time and the patience, even the worst chips can be blended away using Dr. ColorChip. Some of them can be flat out erased.

I say stay with the original Nissan paint as a touch up paint.

I'm guessing that you don't have a PW Z... the OEM PW touch-up is pretty much transparent with some flecks in it... it's virtually impossible to get acceptable results IMO... YMMV
