I hit mine with a air chisel spun that knob right off

All you need is a towel and one of these rubber can opener things. You can also buy a whole roll of these, they sell them as kitchen drawer mats. Wrap this around the knob, then wrap it with a small towel so you don't thrash your palm, and it should break loose.

1. wrap oem **** knob with some duct tape
2. get a rag/cloth around the upper part of boot and put on vice grips with the handle towards the drivers side so u it will hit your knee when twisted
3. get a C-clamp around the duct tape and lefty loosey... and u will have damaged nothing
