Paint or No Paint Carbon fiber hood

Hey guys first of all! The hood is sitting on top of my wife's blanket. Sorry and again Please ignore the hello kitty and the pinkness:superghey: lol

Ok here's my question...I havent seen too many pictures of Black Zs with carbon fiber hood on there. Should i paint the hood to match the color of my car or leave it carbon fiber? Everything else I have is goin to be painted to match the car.. This is the only thing I have thats carbon fiber. Not sure what to do here.

Just me but i'd leave it carbon, it's subtle on black.

Black (flat) with a CF hood.

I say leave it CF. Here's another pic on a black 370...

Pelican170 01-12-2012 01:51 PM

Typically i would say paint it, but on a black car, i think it looks good unpainted...

Jasonle 01-12-2012 02:02 PM

Thanks for the pictures and input guys! I might leave it unpainted for awhile and see. Now i got to find mesh inserts at home depot for it and maybe a rain guard? Not sure if i even need a rain guard. Those vents are pretty big...

Thoughts on that particular hood... it's the one I'm looking at getting... on black no less.

Color match the hood, but add a ghost print of Hello Kitty to it. That would be so hawt. You don't even know.

Vertigo 01-12-2012 02:27 PM

Personally, I don't think there's enough contrast with carbon fiber on black.
I say paint it and keep the body the same color on a black car.

MattP725 01-12-2012 02:29 PM

Paint.. CF hoods are played out IMO.

cc370z 01-12-2012 10:27 PM

I'd say no paint at 1st. Then once it's starts to yellow or gets a lot of rock chips then paint it. Two looks same car, that's a win/win.

Yes.

TheGreatOne 01-13-2012 12:02 PM

At most I would only paint a portion of it if you are dead set on painting it

Painting a CF hood to me kinda defeats the purpose of buying a CF hood especially on 'this car" since the stock hood is already so light from being aluminum

Mr&Mrs 01-13-2012 02:37 PM

I had my CF hood painted with the vents left carbon. The last vents (closest to the windshield) I had them fade in so there is no line separation of color/material.

Not the best lighting but you can kind of see.

^ that looks pretty good actually.

Jasonle 01-13-2012 02:55 PM

That does look good.. I might have my guy do that.. just paint the hood but leave the vent area carbon fiber.. thanks again guys for the help!

XwChriswX 01-13-2012 04:28 PM

Agreed that does look good with the vents. The centerlines look interesting how you left them CF as well... Almost like the fangs of a snake.
