i like how you wired up LED's to the dummy switches. nice job.
|
Very sleek setup! Looks OEM. :tiphat:
|
Define sprint booster. Looks very clean none-the-less.

as requested, laser jammers pic
http://www.the370z.com/members/jetgu...ser-jamers.jpg the sprint booster is an electronic device that helps to eliminate the lag associated with modern cars like our Z that use throttle by wire control. I installed this after trying to merge from a dead stop and my Z seemed to hesitate for about a second from me mashing the gas pedal to the car actually responding. that 1 second almost caused me to get in an accident and was not a very nice feeling. now when i mash the throttle pedal the Z responds like it should-instantly. as a side benefit to the sprint booster it has 3 modes that make the Z a little more dynamic (fun) if the led (button) is clear the throttle is back to stock, green is like sport mode, and red is like race mode and you will be spinning your tires alot :). i keep it in green for the most part as it eliminates the lag i mentioned earlier and saves some rubber on my tires. but red is very fun!! |
Nice setup.

Cool, I'll have to look into that.

Just out of curiosity, but what's that hole in your cup holder for? :icon14:
|
that hole is for when i'm drinking scotch and i see a cop. i press a button and it dumps the scotch outside under the car................just kidding! it is for a drinking tube that goes in to a special Gatorade bottle and the drinking tube runs up by the headrest, so when i am hitting the twisty roads really hard i dont have to take my hands off the wheel to get a drink..............nahw, just kidding again! it was for a power cord i was running to my phone, but now i have it ran up to the dash board cubby instead.
|
If you don't mind me asking how much did the jammers run you for parts install and how do you like them?
|
search blinderguy on google. i got a discount for signing up on a bmw forum. cant remember exactly what i paid....i have had them for a while now. a quick search showed a price of $350ish.
the performance is great. i have jammed (what an awesome feeling to actively defeat the cops!) about 5 cops with this set up on the Z. i also had these on my old s2000 and it saved me a bunch of times! the ones i have are the blinder xtream m27. i am only running the 2 front jammer heads, but some guys like to have one jammer head on the rear as well. |
I know some jammers give you a warning that a laser is being targeted on you, does this system do that?
|
yeah, it beeps when it detects laser, and jams it at the same time. then you slow down to speed limit and turn it off and officer thinks his gun was just temporarily giving him a common error.
|
that is really cool....
my passport 9500ix is giving me a headache today... |
Nice and clean, well done. I've already done the one for the radar and the booster is next. Thanks
|
thanks everyone.
1) for the booster control; i had to open the unit up and then trim back about a 1/2" of the black wire covering. this is so the wires can fit inside the 370z switch blank (the blank will have to be smoothed out on the inside also). 2) after i had the booster switch all apart; i had to trim both ends about 1/16 to a 1/4". this is so the booster switch can fit inside the 370z switch blank. 3) then i test fit everything. this allowed me to pick up the hole to drill thru the 370z blank , for the clear led button. 4) after that i took it all back apart and filed down the thickness of the booster top piece where the clear led button goes thru. this allows the clear button to stick thru the 370z switch black better. 5) clean all the dust out and wipe clean with acetone. then crazy glue in the top of the booster switch cover, to the inside of the 370z switch blank (careful to line up the hole you drilled). let dry completely. 6) now instal clear button, circuit board and back plate. check for proper button operation with your finger holding the back plate in place. 7) use a small amount of crazy glue to glue the sides of the back plate on. let dry. 8) now fill the rest of the inside of the 370z switch blank with hot glue. let dry / cool, and your done! |
a police radar jammer? lol I want one!
|
I have the 9500ci and am looking to install it here soon.
Were you able by chance to take any pics during the shifter install? I'm curious about how/where you routed the wires into the cabin. Also, where did you get your dummy switches for as I'd like to get a few to put in those blanks as well for similar purpose. |

Today I had to purchase the one year subscription, register my device, and talk to customer support for around an hour. Once I get home tonight, I need to update my device, package, and ship it to Ohio, where their service center is located to get TSR programmed... it cannot be done remotely I'm never going to buy my electronics second-hand again... |
you should ask them to put the red display in it while they have it...it would match the z's dash better

I did my Sprint Booster like that also. ('cept mine is out-of-center ). Haven't got it installed yet because I fubarred one of the wires. Task for next spring.
Nice setup on all of them. Any tips on getting everything centered when you drill the holes? I thought mine was dead on until I inserted the button. |
As far as centering goes; after I totally smoothed out the inside of the 370z switch blank, the natural width of the sprint booster fit in just right. Then I just picked up the hole through the inside of the top half of the sprint booster while it was wedged in the 370z switch blank. Also I just used a drill bit turned by hand.
|
looks great!
|
The "turned by hand" is probably where I went wrong. It doesn't take much movement for the button to go out of center.

I would like to make some "race mode" letters for the booster switch. Anyone have some ideas of where I could get really small adhesive letters?
