I'm looking for a really loud exhaust that is EPA & CARB approved?

I was going to get a gthaus miestershaft then I realized its not road approved so I want a LOUD exhaust or maybe other options, it doesn't have to be exhaust I know I see some people on here talking about HFC's and other stuff so I just need some help please

Don't quote me on this, but you should be fine with any CBE for most states other than California. I'm not sure how texas is (despite being stationed here for about 3 years). Tennessee doesn't care what you do as long as it can pass a visual check for cats and a sniffer test.

theDreamer 12-09-2011 07:09 PM

If you are in Texas any exhaust is legal, the issue comes in when you modify the cats.

Just change the hfc during smog check, i dont know about texas but i dont have to do any tests for 6 years so i am going all the way

Just pray the Federal Noise Police don't descend on us in the next couple of years. It's already happening with motorcycles (thank a Harley rider or Ricer today!)

Good, hope they all get arrested and get raped in the ears

As long as you don't touch the cats you can install most any cat back exhaust you want and not have any emissions issues. As for noise you'll have to check your state regulations.

You will be fine, Texas inspect is fairly light still.
They check for codes, do a visual and check to verify your cats are still on the car. That is all, the exhaust can actually not be on the car and you could probably pass inspection.

The only thing that is going to make it not road legal is the dB that it puts out. As long as it passes the emissions portion of tests, it should be ok.

That's not to say that you won't get a noise violation ticket though... I would look up your local laws to see what the legal sound limit is.

the only legal issue is noise level. anything after the cat is fine in all other respects.
