That actually looks really good, racy but doesn't draw too much attention. How do the braces attach to the bumper itself? Just screws?

haitech 12-08-2011 01:16 AM

nicely done

TypeOne 12-08-2011 04:40 PM

Looks cool.. but I don't think it is actually going to do anything.

The splitter isn't really made to be adjustable, not to mention, any serious down force will rip those things out of the plastic bumper.

I've been thinking about getting the Stillen canards... but idk about this.

MACSIMIZER 12-08-2011 07:52 PM

I only did it to make my car stand apart from other 370s with the stillen lip. I know it is not functional, most body parts added to these cars do absolutly nothing for functionality.

RoshDawg 12-09-2011 02:29 PM

I like it. Looks like you mean business.

karotZ 12-09-2011 02:37 PM

I like it too. I'd either CF or matte black the fangs to complete the look - but that's just me.

SPOHN 12-09-2011 03:21 PM

I'd paint the rods black.

can you share where you got the pieces for this?

Bought them off of the CV Racing Products trailer at Five Flags Speedway last weekend during the Snowball Derby. They are made by Race City racing products and are normally used for rear spoiler supports on circle track stock cars. I had to modify slightly by grinding out some of the aluminium at the mounts to get more angle on them. They come in various lengths, these are the 8" ones, CV part # BSR-019-AE8.

I had to remove the bumper to mount the upper base. These could be made functional by adding a small mount to attach to the aluminum bumper bar, it is not too far behind where these mount. Thought about blacking them out but didn't want them to get lost and they go well with all of the other silver accents on the car. I will get a picture tomorrow of the whole car so you can get a better idea.

Not bad! I'm usually not a fan of splitters since the street is never kind. But your install is sweet, good job. You def accomplished your mission of standing out from the crowd.

TypeOne 12-09-2011 07:40 PM

I wouldn't call this a splitter... more of just an aero add on. It doesn't really do anything and calling it a splitter is somewhat misleading, IMO. Reasons why I was always confused as to why Stillen calls it that.

It splits the air at the base of the bumper, so the name is accurate. Reduces air going under the car, and allows a little pressure to build up on top. It's more than just a front lip (aka airdam).

But the rods look tacky, especially being non-functional.

Wow does that splitter make your black z so much meaner looking

TopElement 12-12-2011 07:05 PM

Splitter itself look great, and really improves the not-so-good look front end.

I guess the supports just look out of place on an otherwise stock car. If they're not functional, it seems like modding for the sake of modding.

robones 01-22-2012 08:04 PM

When I saw your car with the Stillen front splitter it sold me the look and I decided to buy it myself! ; ) your car looks clean and fresh just like mine. Now I hope that you did not use the self tapping screws that came with the kit. They are BS!!! The best method to install the lip is to remove the front bumper and install the lip by adding screws with a bolt on the inside of the bumper. That way it assures it will not be going any where. I've heard from people in the forum that the lip flies off after a few months.
