it's an ugly mod to do......get some washers if someone really wants to raise the hood

Not a fan of the raised look. Would much prefer vents cut in the hood before I did that. Otherwise I'll just take my hood off if I need more cooling :koolaidwall:

Just pull the rubber gaskets at the rear of the engine bay... I haven't done the temp tests on this yet, but my car is running really cool..

Hello
Just to confirm I correctly understood (my English is not perfect), you are talking about these 3 gaskets in green on the picture ?

You're about 11 years late to the party, but yes. Those are the gaskets being referred to.

Did you remove those or know anyone who did? Wondering how much water will get in during rain or car wash. Thinking also about how much hotter ingested air for the HVAC will be as I typically run in fresh air mode so the system doesn't stink.

I currently have them removed. Not that it's raining here anytime soon :ugh: But I'll be putting them back eventually. I don't like the dismantled engine bay look.

Really the only thing you need for water protection is the RH side front windshield cowling. It keeps water from getting in the cabin air filter and other openings that lead to the inside of the car where the carpet is. I couldn't tell you the effect on the intake temps, but if removing them provides better airflow, then you might see lower temps instead of higher ones.

You say disassembled look. Did you pull the entire plastic panels the weather strips are attached to? I just pulled the weather stips and don't feel it looks disassembled.
