Bride seats vs Status

would you say status or bride seats are more hyped and everybody has them?

NewYorkJon34 11-13-2011 08:34 PM

Less people have bride due to the price, but I'd say that make some of the best seats out there

XwChriswX 11-13-2011 09:44 PM

Status does make very good seats/harness' so it's not just hype. The same goes for Bride, you get what you pay for. But you will pay for it.

JB-370z 11-13-2011 11:00 PM

Just orderd these Bride Cuga's in red. The only bad part about getting high end authentic Bride seats, is having to wait months to get them in. Mine will be in mid January. I will take some pics and give my thoughts on the quality. Seems like allot of the Bride seats I see around town, are fake.

Looks sweet! Thats the way you find out if they're Real or not.. Ask them how long they waited for them. :rofl2:

kuriz32 11-13-2011 11:43 PM

Status doesn't make reclining seats. Their construction is really nice and they're fully customizable.

Bride and Status seats are just different, but both are nice. The problem is that there are tons of fake Brides out there, so be careful.

bullitt5897 11-14-2011 06:44 AM

Personally I say go Recaro! I got the CS Sportster seat and could not be happier!!!!

scottIN 11-14-2011 09:52 AM

Just out of curiosity...
Are there any aftermarket race seats that you can get as heated? That's the only way I'd do it - I'm spoiled.

I would say neither, you pay for what you get.
Status offers full bucket seats which can be customized 100% while Bride offers a full line of seats for different needs, and both are top quality.

Really, it is not hype but quality you are hearing. Seats are something you do not want to cheap out on, a good seat will save you will a bad one can kill you.

Mike, you got the amuse bar? How much for those seats? And yes there are def alot of fake bride seats, right Mike ;) lol

theDreamer 11-14-2011 02:17 PM

I believe those seats are about 1200-1500 depending on options plus rails.
Saw a set in a 350z but the owner was not around so I never got to sit in them.

SPOHN 11-14-2011 03:23 PM

First of the year I'm getting some Racetech's

vividracing 11-14-2011 06:50 PM

As a dealer of both Bride and Status, and having handled/sat in/oogled tons of both brands, it really comes down to personal needs/preference. Status only offers ONE FIA certified seat. Bride has several. Status seats are HIGHLY customizable, though. Check this link for info on building your own Status seat: Status Racing

For a street car, I'd pick up a Status Icon seat and have it custom made to match my car. If it's a track car, then it'd be a toss-up between a Status Ring and Bride. Bride seats are true JDM quality seats (so long as you don't get duped into buying knockoffs), and Status are high quality, made in America, by a company with a background in military parts manufacturing.

kkruel55 01-19-2012 02:48 PM

Is the Ring GT FIA approved?

TypeOne 01-19-2012 05:25 PM

Status seats are made for people that weigh less than 175lbs.

Brides and Recars FTW!

haitech 01-19-2012 06:40 PM

Bride and Recaro it is!

The GT is not, but the Ring is.

I weigh 200lbs and fit in the Imola and Ring GT :) Size 34 pants.

tsg-z 01-19-2012 11:05 PM

My Brides are soo uncomfortable! I considered selling quite a few times...

Amuse370z 01-20-2012 09:06 AM

Are they really that expensive? The Vios Low Max and Zeta III are like $2000k for 2 seats including rails are they not?

It depends, you have different versions of each of those plus which type of rail you want.

Sounds about right for the fiberglass version of the Zeta III. The carbon fiber Zeta III is almost $1800 per seat, though.

Amuse370z 01-20-2012 10:30 AM

Im somewhat interested now. I'm 5'8,30" waist, which one would be suitable for me if I'm looking into it?

Zeta III or Vios III? Will I regret not getting the ones that are reclinable?

TBH, I just like the look of the CF, I'll just wrap it in the future if I really want it.

Oh yea? Well, maybe you are one of the chosen then!

I'm 240ish 34 waist and have a hard time sitting comfortably in the Ring GT.

Recaro SRD, Recaro Pole Position are the most comfortable fixed buckets IMO. I ran them in a few of my cars and loved it. I have contemplated putting them in my Z.

The only fixed Bride I've been in is the Zeta III and it was super tiny for me. Then again, they aren't rated for people that weigh more than 200lbs anyway.

:ugh2:

kchu221 01-20-2012 12:17 PM

you gotta remember, bride makes seats thinking its for japanese poeple, and ususally japanese people are pretty small... id say go for recaro x ASM collabo seats...

FuszNissan 01-20-2012 12:33 PM

I have the Status Ring GT's, and love them. But I am 5'9 173lbs. 33" waist. I think they fit like a glove. But they are not true to their size, so take that into consideration.

lastblueprint 01-20-2012 11:45 PM

I enjoy Cobra Seats……I mean if you are going to spend almost 2k on light weight bucket seat you can check out the Cobra Misano 30……

Shows a close up on the seat.......

Alchemy 01-21-2012 01:29 AM

I have recently been turned on to the Status seats. I think they are great looking and I love the personalization. Wish I could talk myself into spending that much on seats.

DIGItonium 02-10-2012 11:30 AM

Shall we discuss seats, practicality, and weight savings over OEM seats?

Once I settle on a good boost level on my car, the next step is to try to lighten things up. Of course, my sub box isn't helping, but I plan to change out the audio stuff down the road (i.e., smaller box, single small digital amp). Basically minor weight savings here and there. Every little bit helps :)

Give us a call, I'm sure Scott could convince you to pick up a pair of seats :icon17:

Status seats weigh about 14 lbs each. I'm not sure what the OEM 370Z seats weight, but with the electrical components and airbags, plus the heavier frame, I know it's significantly more than that. I wouldn't doubt it if they were 12-15 lbs heavier than the Status seats.

As far as practicality, that's up to your use of the car. The Status GT-X is easy to get in and out of, but you lose the reclining feature of the OEM seats. Status is supposedly working on a reclineable seat that should be out soon, though. There's several aftermarket reclineable seats that are in the same league as Status in terms of quality, also. The Status GT is also pretty easy to get in/out of. You just want to avoid seats with really high and/or vertical side bolsters. When it comes to seats, I won't even consider seats that aren't made by a company who has FIA certified seats in their lineup. That at least proves that they know how to build a good seat and have good quality control.

-Matt

DIGItonium 02-10-2012 02:54 PM

Thanks, Matt. I'll wait for the reclining seats. The seats I'm looking for is for the comforts of daily driving with a bit of sporty support while carrying the benefits of weight reduction. Asking for too much? Haha.
