Which Fog to get EvoR or Jdm Spec?
Hi I am fairly new to the forum and picked up the Z a few days ago. I have done searches but haven't really found which is the better product. I heard the Jdm is brighter than the EvoR but I'm not sure. I really want the switch so I can control it at anytime but the only switch I found was 160$ at the Z store. Is one more complicated than the other?
Thanks |
OEM light, OEM switch, OEM quality and reliability.
Sounds like a win to me. |

I like the LED personally. |
I went withthe OEM one for three reasons.
1) it's OEM 2) it looks like it belongs on the car, unlike the LED version which looks like it was added on 3) it's RED. the led version is smoked which makes it look like a dummy cover when it isn't illuminated most will disagree with me, but I prefer the look of the OEM piece anyday. |
Thanks for the replies. So I think I will go with the Oem but I will need a switch, like the one that goes in between the heated seats. Will that switch work with the Oem light? Anyone have this specific set up. The only switch I found was from Z store that was 160 plus 60 for the light itself. 220$ fairly high for this light. Thing is I need to be able to turn on and off anytime I want to.

2. The LED one looks just the same as a blank like it came OEM, and illuminates when you want it to. So it looks as if nothings been changed... (especially on black) 3. You can get the EVOR LED one in RED as well to give it that 'stock' appearance. In terms of brightness, you have to decide which do you want, 1 large bulb that you might eventually have to replace which looks like mids 90's taillights, or LED's which have a much longer life, use less energy, and is a much larger source of attention getting. When it comes to the wiring, both are extremely simple. However, the LED light allows you to wire it to come on, and off. And also you have the option to Blink like F1 cars. To most this will be trivial, but it a better attention getter than a solid on light. Even in full daylight I have people asking me about it after they've followed me. So that should 1. tell you something about its brightness and 2. that it does actually get the person's attention. Again to each unto their own, but just EVOR puts out a great product. |
The most important thing for me is have a switch or a button to turn off the EvoR fog. I want to know what to buy along with it and need something cheaper than 160 for thezstore Jdm switch.

If you're talking about a switch in the center console, there is one posted in one of the DIY's that you can get for cheap, and then it's just the cost of wire, and the labor of installation. You don't need to get the $160 harness I promise you. That's a ripoff. |

The Evo-R matches the LED tailights pretty well, but I liked the oem look better. Just be mindfull that even the oem foglight is pretty bright, your just as likely to piss off the guy behind you with this thing, especially on a clear night. Anyone know if I can switch out the stock bulb to something less bright? A way to control the brightness would be better though.
|
Also, did you see ProfessorDave's method of button control from the DIY thread OP? Looks pretty simple and cool, I'd paint it myself so the button stands out, but that's up to you... its another idea... I might do that for another idea I have.

I've got the Evo-R light, and I'm very happy with it. Mine is wired to come on solid with the brake light and flash when in reverse.
I've got the Nav by-pass installed, so my center console blank has been taken-up by the by-pass switch. Didn't someone post that there is a company selling the Canadian control stalks with the fog light switch on it? I didn't think that was much more than the JDM switch. |

I've honestly been searching for the different light stalk and a cheaper switch but it doesn't seem to exist online. I don't even know where some people got an extra heated seat switch. |
i didnt want the hassle of having potential inferior functionalty so i went OEM.

Plus, I don't want mine as a fog light or a back up flasher. I just want to hook mine up as a 2nd (or 4th depending on how you look at it) brake only light. I'm planning to tint all my taillights, and another brake only light will help add a little more oomph to the back. I've read the OEM is really bright, so I'm hoping that means it's "brake light" bright, but we'll see. I THINK my set up should be easy. If I remember from the thread I read about 4 months ago, all I do is tap into the green brake wire and I'm good to go, done. Getting the old non-light off is the hard part I guess, with all the loc-tite on it. |
Everyone have their own taste. But at this great quality and price you cann't beat it! This price is only offer in this forum. no where else.
|
yah ,the amount of work needed to install that one silly light, i wanted to be done right and be done with for good. (dont want to worry about burnt out LED's and PCB's).
|
Damn I don't know what to do. So I'm seeing that the EvoR is complicated to wre up and the Jdm should be easier as it is an Oem product. Is wiring the EvoR really that much harder vs. The Jdm? I'm know that you can have the light flash when braking or reversing but can the light be able to flash while driving F1 style and then control by switch?

EVOR Light: 3 wires If you DON'T want the EVOR light to blink, then there are only 2 wires. It's HOW you want the EVOR light to work that is the only difference. If you want it in setup A you tap to the X and Y Wire. If you want Setup B then you tap into the X and Z wire. It's not hard I promise you. I did it in my parking spot at 10pm. Took a half hour. Hardest part was getting the rear lamp off to tap into the wires... (This was before I found out you could make the taps inside the trunk. ) |
Can the EvoR come on with the parking lights and then come on brighter with the brake lights and not blink? I don't want it to flash just bright steady driving/brighter brakes.

Just wanted to add something to this. Check out what I found looking through the Nissan Motorsports catalog:
PN: 25560-1EP0B Description: Stalk assembly for JDM rear fog light. Price: ~$125 Designed for a JDM Right hand drive, but can work on a US Spec car. The only thing is it will be reversed. http://www.nissanraceshop.com/image/...5560-1ep0b.jpg |
lake show if you are close to my house, Id glady install your evo R light for you... its simple...
if you want a switch you can pre run a wire from a switch you mount, to your trunk and that can be hooked up at the same time... |
