You know I just was looking over my threads and this was posted on 10/8 and yet the poster still has no other posts LMAO! What some people will do to try to down an excellent product when they know it looks good. AK already banned me from the detailing section... now I can't express my love of detailing and trying new products here without somone interrupting my thread. Wow... what else can I say lol.

I think I know why you may have been banned.

Wax/LSP does VERY little in terms of bringing out any kind of shine. It's all in the polishing itself. Wax/sealant/whatever is just meant to protect. The only time wax would really make a shine difference is if it had fillers that masked the swirls.

I did a fun little trick like this with my detailing friends. They wanted to know what lsp I used as the car had a great, deep gloss to it. They kind of felt a little stupid when I told them I had yet to put the wax on the car. Some people get it, and some people buy into product hype offering the MOST AMAZING SHINE IN THE WORLD.

It's all really in the mind. Some people are happy with Adams, some are happy with Pinnacle, Megs, mothers, whatever. Fact is, it's all the prep work (polishing, wet sanding...etc) that goes into have a car with flawless paint. The majority of the products used mean very little (I promise I could walk into pep boys and only buying products from them do a detail job that will rival pro detailers with "pro" products). Pictures also mean nothing as your eyes will view everything differently.

And since it seems you like putting down adams, I will say this. It's all pretty much the same. Some companies like to say they formulate this and scientists that, but realistically a LARGE majority of detailing suppliers just rebottle, rescent and resell other products (4 star what?)

There's really only a few detailing suppliers out there that can afford these scientists, and one is Meguiars. And they make awesome products (even their OTC stuff is decent)

Pledge is very popular with a local Z car club. Lots of people use it right on the paint and they swear by it. Personally me?..... uh, no.

Why did AK ban you?

Most people won't know what you used or if you used anything at all no. However, people who have been at this for a while can tell you what was used. For instance... one pic I looked at on a detailing site asked if people could tell which side was which on a hood he had done. I guess correctly because a sealant look is a pretty glossy, and candy coated look, while a standard nuba is more warm and natural, it also doesn't always seem to bring out flake as much as sealants.

In person I can most definitely tell the difference between the Werkstatt that I used (by the way Werkstatt makes their own stuff) and many of the other products I have tried. Certain things about it just stand out more.

I actually never put down Adam's... I just simply showed that similar or better results can be had with cheap microfibers from walmart, decent polishes and any wax that you really want.... some people can't handle the truth. I like Dylan from Adam's a lot and he does good work with what he does.

I myself don't like all of the prices, but if it makes people feel better to pay more for some stuff, that's cool too.

ummm, well he said that I wasn't getting along well with some guys on the detailing forum... we actually had cleared everything up though... so he banned me. I guess I wasn't promoting well enough? Who knows lol.

You say that...But my little test was done at a detailfest with a lot of "top notch, top dollar" detailers (I am also friends with a few employees there). Sealants and waxes add a very MINIMAL gloss or shine difference. Can I tell if someone has a LSP on their car? It depends on the environment more than anything. With overcast, I highly doubt you could tell the difference between werkstatt and NXT.

Pictures are the WORST way to show off a good detail/shine. The majority of people (and their cameras) will focus on the object in reflection which gives the appearance of a flawless, perfect detail. On a darker car, that can hide A LOT. I see detailers trying to promote their services do this all the time.

But hey, I've only been doing this over 10 years, trying every product I can get my hands on (friends in the industry at a MAJOR reseller have definitely helped this), detailed multiple cars, so what do I know? At the end of the day, you find what you like and what works for you and you use it, but don't be surprised if others do not share your same opinion.

Yep, i've been at it 12 years now myself... worked at some detail shops doing cars, boats, airplanes, etc. I can tell the difference and yes, light does have a lot to do with it, but I can apply a few coats of DG105, and the next day, the candy coating of it is just beautiful... especially with a red, blue, green, etc colored coat. Just a beautiful finish.
