Satin black 370
Hey guys, I wanted to run an idea I had past you. Feel free to comment and give me your opinion.
My car just had some major damage to the paint on the roof, hood, front bumper, and rear trunk by some mystery liquid dripping on it and eating through the paint. :shakes head::shakes head::shakes head: Insurance of course is involved because its going to be a repaint of all of the pieces listed. My car is black with a few satin black features (mirrors, sport rims, and gas cover) So here comes the idea. I was thinking of repainting the roof trunk and hood all satin black as well. How do you think that would look? I have to shell out 500$ to get it fixed anyways so I might as well take advantage and do something unique with it. What say you? http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...el/blackie.jpg http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q169/emayfiel/3.jpg http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...el/2copy-1.jpg Thanks! |
Repaint the whole car satin black.

^ I agree. The whole car satin black would be sweet!
Whatever you decide though, make sure the clear coat application is better than factory. |
What about a satin wrap instead of ruining the paint, I've seen it on a lot of higher end cars and I was thinking of doing it to mine after I have the bodykit put on
|
I don't think its a good idea, your car looks great as is, no need to mess with a good thing.
But anyway, Satin Black Paint - Care? Tips? - Volvospeed Forums Some things to keep in mind. |
Do it, why would the OP bother wrapping when his paint is already messed up. You will likely be the first satin black Z with the OEM non nismo body.

Yeah, some good points. Im going to have to think about it some more. The whole car would be awesome, but I would only be painting these three parts right now. Thanks for the feedback so far:tiphat:

I wonder how it would look having a Satin center stripe with gloss on each side...
This might be something you'd want a photoshop request before doing it just to give you something to visualise it?? |

If you want to save some DOUGH... I have a TON of Matte Black Vinyl if you want I will give you one HELL of a DEAL!!! It will be a good bit less than the $500+ to fix your paint! Also, you can sell the remaining material if you would like. Either Way Good Luck and I know many of us will like your concept  I would pinstrip between the matte black and gloss black :D

I just took my car to the shop this morning. Decided to get the center v part of the hood in satin black...... and the center square part of the roof satin black. All of the other is regular gloss. Should look mean when its done!

I would do the vinyl to get the matte look or keep it magnetic black. I wouldn't paint it matte black though. Def post pix when it's done though so we can see the end result

Cant wait for pics!
