Certain angle of the FT 86 II..
is it me or does it look like a Z from this angle?

Maybe a little. Looks more like a cross between Hyundai Tiburon and a Lexus IS250 than a Z to me.

Stinks likes a scion....

I can see where you're comming from.,

Honestly, looks more 350Z that 370Z to me.
|
|
lmao, I love how people hate on it just because they decided to put a scion badge on it. car still looks good, and I'm sure with subbie behind it, it'll run good as well. stop hating.
|
I agree, I'm actually kind of excited to see it hit the showrooms. Won't be trading in the Z for it.
|
with scion, toyota has always taken cues form other cars. just look at the tC; has aspects of many different cars on the road. Its how they put them all together that makes them look great. (in regards to the tCs and the FT-86/FR-S at least)

I'm definitely picking one of these babies up. It'll be so fun to drive.

if it looks like a Tc, then forget it. looks too cheap to me. i dont need another Fit looking car. |
I like the agressive front, how do you think it will look on a Z?
|
Production version is gonna be out at the Tokyo Auto Show in December. They say a few months later in the spring for showroom.
|
Looks more like a G than a Z in the midsection to me, front end (of concept photos) looks more like a baby LFA.

Other vehicle section discussion. ;)

I'm very interested in getting one as well... they claim it will have the lowest center of gravity on a production car ever. Should handle incredibly well.
I just hope it looks close to either ver. 1 or ver. 3. Would get the Subie variant if offered with AWD or turbo... but doesn't seem to be happening. |
Looking forward to this as well as a replacement for my DD (not a replacement for the Z). The overlay picture someone posted earlier is rather misleading as the roof of the FR-S is supposed to be a couple of inches lower than the Z.

I would really like to see a turbo option but it seems less likely with each passing month. Though a 'STi' version has been mentioned, Subaru said it probably would stay NA RWD. |
Yea, just wanted to reinforce the point about a low center of gravity. I didn't mean to imply that Nick's overlay post was intentionally misleading just that it doesn't really give a good idea of the car's proportions.
|
Reminds me of the genesis more...
|
I remember reading and this car possibly being a 4 cylinder turbo... HP wasnt really discussed but it seemed like it would make a decent mark on the sports car class....
Now i just read that Subaru and Toyota-Scion plan on only coming out with a 4 cylinder NON turbo model to start.... So it will basically be a RWD TC/Celica then... I was really liking the idea of bringing the Trueno 8-6 (aka FT86) to the states in a nice new model... I could feel like Tak on Initial D! haha |
