painting carbon fiber hood... ideas...

I DID IT! i THINK have somewhat figured a direction to take my car. so i am looking into getting a carbon fiber hood, but dont want the whole hood carbon fiber as i feel that is to fast and furious-ish for me... i would however like to have a little body color and a little paint.. SOOOOO i was thinkin of this idea, painting the hood body color, but leaving the vents carbon fiber..:stirthepot:

I'm looking at a this hood:

yes i did the same, except for that last vent at the top u wanna paint that completly and not fade it out like the pic u put check out pics from my car you can compare u might like it more.

That is freaking sweet! i love it now. did u go with vis or seibon?

zuperman 370 08-23-2011 08:43 AM

Thank you very much i think leaving the first 2 vents in cf and paining the rest is the way to go, i was considering fading out the 3rd vent but it decided against it and im very happy the way it came out, and the hood is seibon TS :)

I like the way zuperman did his. The fade is nice for car shows and such but thats about it. Seibon just came out with a new single vent hood that I'm :icon08: over...

I like that hood too. On the "to do" list for next year. I will leave all three vents carbon with a small 1/4" border. But mine is MB, so I can get away with it.

I keep going back & forth about painting the vents or not.
There is a PG 370z on here with the TS hood fully painted which I really like, will find pictures.

would it be better (more functional) to have the vents closer to the windshield? at least past half way aft of the hood to suction out the air?

Actually, having a larger hole in the front (similar to what Chris posted) would be the best.
That opening will pull hot air out from the radiator before it hits the engine helping cool the overall system.

Courtesy of Ztoon, I really like it fully painted.

Agreed. If I do get a hood, Im painting the whole thing. Ztoon did his right. In my opinion carbon showing is just too much. I guess if you have a show car then you want some "toe" coming through. Its either fully painted or not painted at all. I think only black and white cars can pull off the full carbon hood. I wouldn't, but it can look clean.
