Hater smashed my windshield, should I claim with insurance?

I have statefarm and I doubt that's they are gonna cover it. So I called around and got a quote for $195 and I don't know the quality of the glass. Any advice on what I should do??

ofcourse you should have insurance cover for this. some policies include free glass replacement under comprehensive coverage. (thats if your deductible is zero)

You turn that into insurance. I have replaced three. Never did effect my insrance rates.
The guys came right to the house and changed it out. The subaru outback windshield ws about $600 because of the glass heater. Didn't cost me a dime.

get pilkington glass or nissan oem, anything less is cheap crap. make sure they do it right and remove the cowl panel (which requires removal of the front brace) and extra careful taking the a-pillars off or they will be buying new ones.

when someone threw bricks at my driver side and rear hatch windows, insurance will cover it with no hassle as long as you got a police report. I'd say go for nissan OEM as it is your best bet regarding fitment issues IMO.

Where in MD did this take place?

Also, make sure that the techs are wearing gloves at all times while handling the windshield. The oils from skin can cause problems with the adhesives.

West Baltimore?

I don't have anything to add other than I feel for you and that kind of thing really ruins your day. :(

onzedge 08-16-2011 03:38 PM

What is wrong with people to even do this?

I lived most of my life on the west coast and thought I'd seen it all. Then I moved to the beltway area and realized I had not see anything! Folks here just don't give a damn about anything, especially on the roads but in certain parts of MD its just crazy.

People that fail at life want others to fail, too.

Go with a reputable installer whatever you do. The front-windshield is considered part of the structure on most cars, and I doubt the 370Z is exempt. It does more than block the bugs.

If someone ever does this to my car I want to witness it at the perfect time, that way I can get them and shatter their ribs until their chest looks like a bag of broken seashells. They'll eat applesauce for the rest of their life.

Is your avatar a picture of you? If so, I believe what you said above. Ha!

mantella87 08-16-2011 05:44 PM

Haha yeah that's me.

Some shops will cover half or more of the deductible.
