remove factory nav, install factory cubby

I know this sounds like the opposite of most questions, but is it possible to remove the factory navigation unit and install a factory cubby or aftermarket if there is one?

I don't really have a need for the nav, and the cubby seems like it would be functional for me. Plus I would love to sell the nav and get some parts. Any thoughts?

Of course you could but I would just leave it.. You will lose value in your car.

cheshirecat 08-03-2011 02:28 AM

I would suggest trading the car in for a 370z without nav before doing that.

kenchan 08-03-2011 07:35 AM

yah, just leave it as is. Not worth the trouble.

TPrelude-370z 08-03-2011 02:53 PM

so I can assume it is not super valuable for resale? How much could I get? How much would it cost to change them out?

kenchan 08-03-2011 03:00 PM

ha?

hdskull 08-03-2011 03:50 PM

I'll trade you! haha, don't know how it would work though... Isn't the navi antenna in the hatch?

kenchan 08-03-2011 03:53 PM

it's a mess to remove, i thinks. i would check with bigaudiofanat for details. i still think he will say 'just leave it, not worth it.'

yeah you should just leave it. if anything trade the car in for one without. i dont know if it applies to this car but for my old car, if you were to swap the factory nav it would require a shit ton of work.

You know your AC modes, temp, and radio status are all display on the nav screen right? How u gonna know those stuff after u remove it.

all good points. It was just a thought because I didn't think I would use it often enough. I also wanted another small storage space for misc items. Lastly I wanted to use the money for some mods. No big deal, thanks for letting me know.
