Do spacers alone affect cambre?
hey guys,
I've been getting a lot of mixed opinions on this question so I thought I would start a thread to get some clarification. I was thinking about ordering just a set of spacers for my Z. I am probably going to go with 20mm all around or 20mm rear and 15mm fronts. I don't have a big issue with the OEM wheel gap so I'm leaning away from a drop, but I like the flush look/wider stance that spacers provide. Would I be okay to order just a set of spacers without worrying about tire-wear/cambre issues? Thanks in advance for your help! |
Spacers will affect camber but only by a very, very small amount. You don't need to worry about your tire wear.
Thanks Steve! So nothing to worry about then?
nope, no worries for the most part. spacers do add stress to other suspension components though, but only over the long term. youre good!

Just make sure you check your spacers periodically as there have been a few instances of cracked hubcentric rings from some of the guys that track their cars. |
Ok thanks guys. I'm not really harsh on cars. Don't plan on tracking it either. Just some occasional spirited driving on the road.
Good thread to start. I also plan on running 15/20 and this was some helpful info.

Just lookin out fellas :tiphat:

Is anyone on this site running spacers with no drop so we can see a pic and get a good idea of what it will look like?
I have a few picts in my albums page with stock wheels running 20 front/15 rear.
I was just looking at the Ichiba website. Can I use the Wheel Spacers Version II? I would assume yes, since it is an option on the website, but it also says to make sure the wheel has the slots to accomodate the lugs. Honestly, I don't feel like taking a wheel off to find out. This is easy.
I had vibration issues with the Ichibas. Others have not. I am happy with my H&R's. I am running 15's up front and bolt on 20's in the rear. I would get 25's for the rears if I had to do it all over again. Hope this helps.

I have 25mm H&R spacers on my rear. No drop or nothing at all. Here's some pics for reference for you guys.

So pretty much:
All 5mm spacers slide right on All 10mm spacers require stud replacement All 15mm spacers require stud replacement 20mm spacers can be either bolt on or stud replacement All 25mm spacers are bolt on Right? |
I think u ment 20mm is when they can be either DRS(stud replacement) or DRM(bolt on) from H&R. I'm pretty sure that the 25mm are oy available in DRM (bolt on).
my bad, fixed!
Yep those are the options from H&R which IMO and many other people's, are the best ones to get.
Thanks guys. Very helpful. After seeing the pics, I think I'm going to go with 20mm all around. What do you guys think?
i say replace the studs on any size you get. its not that hard to do.....
I like 15/20 front/rear but that's just me. When I get back to a PC I will put up a few pics of my old Z with that setup.
