No WeatherTech Cargo Liner Available, Please Help

1 Attachment(s)
Hello all,
While looking at Z's at the dealer, I've decided the $95 rear floor mat is a waste of money for me. It looks nice, but it doesn't have any sort of lip to help keep liquids in, and, since it's not rubber, doesn't help with things sliding around.

What I'm looking for is the same sort of cargo liner Nissan sold me with my 2004 Murano (see the attached picture). I've been searching the internet all morning and the only thing I can find that comes close is the WeatherTech brand liner. BUT, they currently do not make a liner for our car. They make floor mats (manual trans only?), but no cargo liner.

Their website has a page where you can request a product be made, so I did that. Assuming they need several people to want one before they'll invest in making it, I came here. I'm thinking I can't be the one and only Z person who would want this kind of liner for the back.

So, if you are interested and/or have the time, please click on the link below and request WeatherTech make a cargo liner for the Z. That way we can ll keep our inside rears clean and protected!!!!

Application Request Form

Thanks ---- Bonzo

Just submitted a product request for Cargo Liners for a 2010 Nissan 370z. (They didn't have 2009 available haha)

i suppose if you need something quick you can get the Hexomat and Rubbertite mats made to order.

im going to probably get me a set of the hexomats for my G35C later this year before snow fall.

Yeah, I saw those while I was hunting and they look they would work good, all except they don't have the exterior lip. So these will protect from mud and stuff like that, but not if something spills or leaks a fluid. I'm still hoping for something from WeatherTech, but if nothing becomes available, this may be the next best thing.

It's a bummer because the back of the Z is a big "well" shaped tub anyway, so why would Nissan's rear mat not have a lip? It's almost a no brainer.

Come on Weathertech, help us out.

Nifty CARGO LOGIC

I'm not sure why I didn't think to look this company up before. My wife has this Nifty Cargo Liner with Cargo Loks for the back of her KIA Soul, and they are awesome. The cargo liner is made from rubber that is covered with a carpet, and has a lip to hold in liquids. The Cargo Locks are these "L" shaped things that velcro to the carpet to help hold things from sliding around, and they work great.

So I looked them up this morning and bummer, not only do they not make products for the Z, but they don't even list the 370Z as an option to choose from.

Anyway, I just sent them an e-mail this morning asking them if they could makes something custom and how much that would cost, or what it would take to mass produce it for the Z. With any luck we'll get a positive answer.

yah, agreed, the hex one is no match for weathertech, but thought i'd just throw it in there cause it'll probably work for me on my dd. :D

hey bonzo- would it help for you to get a shallow tub container and put vecro hooks on the bottom? should work just as good. and it will be removable too when you dont need the tub.

i do this when i carry old oil to recycle. :p (and when i buy Indian food cause for some reason their carryout bags are ALWAYS greasy....)

Always an option for sure if one of these companies never gets on board.

I wonder how many they have to figure selling before they decide to make a product? I know at about 30,000 (give or take a few thousand) the Z isn't exactly high on production numbers compared with other cars and trucks, so maybe that's the problem. Add on that it's a sports car and not an SUV and maybe it's just not profitable? It might be telling to know how many people actually bought the rear carpet mat. Perhaps I'll do a survey.

Well, if money is no object  $238 not including shipping. Nissan Part # 415-009-010 direct from Japan.

kenchan 07-01-2011 01:48 PM

^^ good find, roadster! :D but yah, that + shipping will be like a $375 product... :icon14:

tub + velcro at target = $20 max. :D

Hey, look at that!!! Didn't know it existed. Thanks.

But yeah, you would think for $238 it would go around the entire back area. I mean if I really want to do just a portion of the area I could do that with a stock mat from WeatherTech or CargoLogic, or even a large tupperware container. Kind of stupid if you ask me. I want the entire area covered.

Also, once again, what is it with auto makers that actually take the time to make a product, but then only sell it to certain countries??? KIA does this too with a lot of stuff.

Hey Bonzo, All,

Has anyone ordered the 2010 Weathertech mats and tried them in the 2009? I have the 2009 370Z Touring and would think that from what I've seen (but not actually measured) that the 2009-2011 appear to be the same sizes?
Has anyone on the forum ordered the 2010 and tried them in a 2009? I ask this because the Weathertech site lists the 350Z as their 2009 option and they don't even list the 370Z.

I called Weathertech and someone's Mom answered the phone and after I talked to her a while I realized she was looking at a piece of paper and all she kept telling me was 2009 350Z was all they had, I thanked her and hung up. She had no idea if 2009 was compatible with 2010 and later...

Appreciate any help you can offer guys.

There shouldnt be a difference between an 09 to 2010 in terms of the trunk dimensions.

Yeah I agree but what about the driver and passenger side dimensions? I'm hoping the 2010 digital mats from Weathertech will fit the 2009.

Oops, apologies for hijacking the thread from Cargo to front mats!

haha. It will be the same. Floor dimensions wont change between 09 to 13.

Fountainhead 03-06-2013 07:58 AM

Yeah the 2010 mats fit great, thanks!

muzik212 03-06-2013 10:22 AM

I have an 09 and the floor mats fit perfectly. I haven't bought the trunk liner though.

Bonzo 03-07-2013 10:44 AM

There isn't one

Nor will you be able to. That's the problem, there isn't one. Weather Tech must have decided it wasn't worth their while for such a limited production car.

Sucks for us who want one. Every thing just slides around like crazy as it is. And I have to be much more careful about what I put in the car. Last year I picked up a bunch of dirty pumpkins, which kind of sucked because I didn't have a Weather Tech liner. See pics.

Off topic, I have been off this forum for a while now. Not on purpose, just life taking over. Hope to be back more in the future.

Cheers ---- Bonzo
