trunk indicator light problem

The indicator light for the trunk, inidicating that the trunk is open is always on.

Yes, the trunk is closed, but it never goes off!

This only started a few days ago, before that it was fine.

Is there a way to reset it somehow? could it be the computer needs a reset or something?

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Since when did the Z have a trunk? ;)

BeachBum 06-04-2011 11:05 PM

It's a hatch.. A trunk is what a G37 has... ;) A trunk by definition cannot share space with the passenger compartment. Where as a hatchback or liftback does...

The Z won't disable itself or ask for a special code for the stereo if I remove the negative lead from the battery will it?

I know some cars have an anti-theft mechanism for the stereo if the battery leads are removed.

No, but you'll have to adjust the window up function.

How do I do that?

So I disconnected the negative terminal on the battery and left it disconnected for 20 minutes. Held the brakes down to purge any remaining power. Re-connected, still got the same problem.

The Z recognises that the trunk is open because when I do open it, it says, "warning trunk open" on the LCD display. Its just that indicator icon around the LCD display stays on constantly.

Didn't lose preset radio stations or clock. Only lost the 'A' and 'B' recorded mileage.

Help!

I took the car to my local Nissan Service Center. They found it to be a bad connection in the sensor wiring.
