Oil AND filter maintenance reminder?

I recently purchased my Z and shortly thereafter popped up an oil maintenance reminder. OK. no sweat. I went and had the oil changed. Day before yesterday while driving home I got a filter maintenance reminder? WTF?? That's kinda redundant isn't it, or am I missing something here?

The dealer forgot to reset it

I figured as much, but why have two reminders for essentially the same thing?

c41006 05-14-2011 01:50 PM

I dont know. It is easy to reset yourself

happytheman 05-14-2011 02:31 PM

Yah. It's a no-brainer to reset. I was just curious to see if there was some hidden intrinsic value to having two diff reminders.

some folks like to do oil changes frequenty while going to the track yet not replace the filter every time they change it. so they separated the oil and filter reminders.

How many miles you have?

happytheman 05-14-2011 06:08 PM

I'm sitting at a little over 12k right now.

Thanks Ken, that makes some sense!

I think it can be adjusted to trip at whatever interval you like. I'm thinking I'll reset mine back to default.
