Spayed on more undercoating...waste of time!

Figured I'd try it since I had some time while wife was away on a turn! There is already some sprayed on from factory, but not much. I covered everything I could...yet I'm not hearing any real difference! (I'm hoping someone hasn't already posted not to bother, I'm to busy at work to sit on here all day!)

Just an FYI: :driving:

I believe someone did do a post on this where they claimed they had no results either, but it's nice to hear it from another person as well.

I guess I'm not keeping up with these power users! Do you know if anyone has tried the interior dynomat scenario?

kevr6 04-12-2009 04:07 PM

Thanks
LOL :icon17:

Did you just reply to yourself? :ugh:

I'm curious to see the dynomat scenario. What happens when it's really hot out? ....

frost 04-12-2009 04:11 PM

Like, phoenix hot :D

Just forget the noise, true sports car are really noisy. with my Lotus at 80 mph on the freeway I have to yell to my wife or friend when we're talking. Try Lambo and you can't hear anything you friend talking.. Sports car are just a different breed and built for a different purpose

^ Different things bother different people, so even though I agree with you, I try not to bust people's chops who find it bothersome (not saying you are, just saying). It actually hasn't bothered me at all, although it was noticeable.

I think the spray on stuff is mostly to stop the panel from vibrating (deadening), don't think it has huge insulating properties.

I think Dynomat on the interior would work better, it's really heavy and dense and a good sound insulator. It will hurt performance slightly though if you go adding 100 pounds of it.

joeyz10 04-12-2009 05:16 PM

You're right frost but I just to let some people know because I am sick and tired of reading reviews from Edmunds, yahoo, msn and stc saying that the noise is a little bit loud. But for goodness sake it is a freaking sportscar!!! Dont' compare apples and oranges

kevr6 04-12-2009 05:20 PM

Fixed my post! It doesn't bother me all that much, I'm just used to driving Audi/VW product and they don't have this problem. I've been spoiled! I mod each car I get and I know it will get louder with bigger sneakers, being lower to the road, etc... hopefully the exhaust will help in this area.
Sorry for reposting.

I think that the reviews make mention of that because there is so few negatives to this car, they have to nitpick stuff in order to have any cons to write about.

Makes me wonder what the car magazines would bitch about if they didn't have that!

You know, a factor that no one has brought up is the tires. I'm sure that part of the reason that there's so much pebble noise is because the Z has fairly sticky stock tires - it's how they got the G numbers so high for such a relatively heavy car.

Putting sticky tires on any car will multiply the pebble and gravel sounds tremendously. I'm not saying it's the only factor - Nissan's goal of lighter weight for this car also lead to the drop in sound insulation - but it is a major one. I'll bet cheapo highway tires would cut the racket by 80% (too bad they're only good for burnouts :excited:).
