Thanks dreamer!

My Stätus Ring GT-X just came today! Can't wait to get it in the car and go for a spin. Perfect size for me too (6'5" 34" waist) the belt guides are right at the top of my shoulders. My shoulders almost cover the guides on the cheap OMP TRS Plus I picked up for a temporary seat.
Still waiting on sliders... I guess no one else can drive my car for a while. ;) |

How is headroom, feel you have more and might be able to fit a helmet? |
Pics as soon as I get it in. Hoping I have more headroom.
Gah! The base may need new holes or I have to wait for the sliders. Hrm. Edit: my OMP sliders need new holes too. ;_; |
Sigh. Nothing seems to be going right for me lately with the car. Can't get the seat level (seat bracket is lower on the left side) and its way too high. As-is there is no way I'll get a helmet on in there.
I have no idea what I'm going to do. May be a brand new Stätus seat for sale this week. ;( |
Thinking of getting brides, what kind of brackets will I need anywhere to purchase them from? Will they fit on our oem bracket, and will I have to disable the air bag If I install these seats

For the airbags, you will lose the ones in your seat of course, and you will wire in a resistor to make the system think there is still one. The rest of the airbags will work 100% fine still. |
Excellent thanks, I can order the brackets only from bride? And is there something specific I should as for like specs or size? What else besides a bracket might I also need?

you can check out wedgeengineering.com for brackets too. you just tell them the seat and the car and they have the right ones for you.
|
Sig, when you say its too high, is it higher than stock seat? Is it just the brackets that are causing it to be higher? I was really excited about STATUS seats. What color is yours? :P
|
With sliders it would be at LEAST ~1" higher than stock. A bit different than I expected. :) It might work with a flatter seat mount bracket. The Planted bracket leaves .5-1" of space at its lowest point. I'm going to give Scott @ Vivid a call and see what he suggests this morning.
It's an all black ultrasuede GT-X. I was gambling by ordering it without finding one to try but I think I won. It fits exactly how I hoped and I think it will be really comfortable. |

If you are mounting from underneath then your height issue was obvious and i could have told you that before you mounted in your car! Dont sell the seat order a buddy club side rail and call it a day! I had the SAME issue with my Corbeau and the corbeau rails that mounted underneath... They were 2+ inches higher then stock! Buddy club side rails bolted to the holes on the side of the seat and were lower then stock!! PERFECT FIT! PM me if you have any questions bro! Dont get frustrated!! -Chad |
I'm not sure the side mounts cost much height. I can barely get the bolts into the back holes on the side mount. Height increase is mostly in the seat base...
Where did you find the Buddy Club or Nagisa mounts for 370Z? Also have to consider that the Ring GT-X is a wide seat (roughly 15" between the side holes). |

The adjustments on the buddy club are awesome they allow you to have a ton of different settings... Theres like 5 slots on front and 5 on the back adapter so adjust the recline level then a good amount of room to slide back and forth for the side holes it meets up with also allows you to be able to have the seat a little closer to the center to allow more room for door clearance. The side mount will allow you to go lower trust me... I have been there. |
Finally got it all together after a loooonnnggg wait! Many thanks to Ralph @ V2 Motorsports for designing and building a mount that didn't put my head in the roof! (click for larger images)
Super sturdy base... no movement from the seat at all. You can push and pull at the top of the seat and will get no wobble: http://reprehensible.net/~sig11/370z..._bracket_t.jpg My 30-45 minute drive today was great. The seat felt better the longer I was in it thanks to all the support it provides. http://reprehensible.net/~sig11/370z...nal_seat_t.jpg Now I just need to get one for the passenger side! (Don't mind the beer... started ZdayZ packing!) http://reprehensible.net/~sig11/370z...ew_cabin_t.jpghttp://reprehensible.net/~sig11/370z...ness_bar_t.jpg |

And great beer choices. |
I'll have to snap a picture... basically went from stretching my neck and hitting my helmet on the roof to having probably an inch gap.

Does the Sparco Chrono Road fit in the 370?

Status Racing Ring (Driver) and Ring GT (Passenger) seats with 5-point Status Racing harnesses:

I have brought it up to Status and they said they are looking into some lower mounting solutions for the seats. |
Looks great. I've been really happy with my Status seat. Did you get FRP, CF, or Kevlar?
Did you use the Planted/425 Motorsports seat bracket? Mine wasn't even level... I was pretty unhappy with the bracket. |
Thanks, both seats are CF. You can see the weave in the one shot from the back. The drivers side mount is Wedge Engineering and the passenger side is Planted. You are correct, the planted mount is not level, I meant to bring that up to Status as well. Using the center holes on the side mount bracket for the left hand side and the top holes on the right hand side bracket leveled it right out, however that should hardly have been necessary.

I bought recaro pole positions, with the recaro side mount and rails it comes with, the seat is way too high. Only solution I see if fix mounted without rails, but I'd really like to have sliders so I can have other people beside me drive my car (instructors) ideas?
|
Don't know how it would look in the 370Z, but I remember the Porsche 997 GT3 Carbon Backed seats looked absolutely amazing in a 300ZX.
http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6237/6...cf2aabff_b.jpg Someone should photoshop and see what it would look like. |
any more ideas with rails/mounts? I need super low ones, on the stock ones with helmet is a bit tight...

Has anyone tried like the buddy club brackets for a 350z?
They are two seperate rails I used on my Z and it was slightly lower then the stock height and was about 2 inches lower then the wedge engineering. |
