I wrapped mine in duct tape many times used a combonation of a strap wrench thing and a pipe wrench.
I think its variable how much loctite they put on. Mine just had a couple of threads around it...thats the part you have to break when your twisting it hard. Once you do its very very simple to remove. If you do remove it well buy another when its time to sell if you can not part with the knob your putting back on. Its not like your not going to sell the thing when the time comes. |

I planned to keep the knob, just taking if off for a short shifter and I was gonna put a Tk knob on. Since it won't come off I'm thinking about canceling the order. -Raj |

Those rubber strap wrenches are junk!! They almost never work on anything. Try the old belt trick. You wan tot try and find yourself one of those belts with a roller on the end (not like my beat up one shown in pic). Then place a nice sturdy bar, wood, or even clamp it with a wrench when the drum stick is. Strap it nice and taught before applying the pressure to twist the knob off. A cheap belt cost like $8 at Wally mart.
in this pic, you will hold the strap tight to the stick and pull it upwards to tighten and twist off whatever object. Of course, the longer the stick, the more leverage given that the belt don't slip. http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/d...psae76bb34.jpg http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/d...psb6daf882.jpg YzGyz |

So how do you use the stick?? I'm gonna try this. -Raj |
With the belt looped around the object you wan to loosen, pull it tight around it then shove whatever stick or leverage object in the position above. You then what to keep the "loose end" held tight with the leverage bar. Apply pressure to the bar upwards. When you apply the pressure upwards, you will automatically tighten the loop and somewhat spin the object. Try it around your arm or something first to get the concept down. In essence, the belt looped around object will grip and tighten as you apply force to the leverage bar. The fulcrum will be the object to loosen (or tighten) and the bar itself.

Awesome. I'm gonna give it a shot. Anybody know if it is bad to directly hold the shaft with vice grips? Any damage to the shaft or just cosmetic damage? -Raj |
