Carbon Fiber sideview mirror

what do you guys think? tacky or it's okay?

nappymike 04-03-2009 02:55 PM

I think it looks good

theDreamer 04-03-2009 02:56 PM

50/50, would need to see it on another color.

ChrisSlicks 04-03-2009 03:00 PM

I don't understand the desire to cover everything in carbon fiber. I think it looks good when it serves a functional purpose as a lightweight part, such as a full hood or fender. But when it's just for looks I don't really like it. Probably would look better on a dark color car though.

:iagree:

Is that just a piece of CFRP attached to the stock side view mirrors? Something similar to what Zele Performance released for the Z34 a while back?

If so, then no thanks. I'd rather get a real carbon fiber mirror replacement. It might look good, but this CFRP piece only adds weight, instead of trying to achieve what most enthusiasts use carbon fiber for.

Where can we buy real CF mirrors that aren't shells stuck on with 3m tape? I want to replace interior trim with cf also...

nogoodname 04-03-2009 03:40 PM

i voted no, if it's an overlay....not really worth...if it was a real piece of carbon fiber that replaces the plastic there...then maybe....lol

Boosted 04-03-2009 06:15 PM

i think they would look good.

Nikon FM 04-03-2009 09:54 PM

I voted on what the title said "Carbon Fiber sideview mirror" If they are "real" where do we buy? On the black car I think they would look great.

Agreed. Just buying covers seems kind of cheesy to me.

SoCal 370Z 04-11-2009 07:52 PM

It all depends on how well the cover fits. Most of the aero kits are simply clad over—not integrated—onto the body (this holds true for some of the aero pieces onto the NISMO 370Z model). :twocents:

frost 04-11-2009 07:55 PM

^ these are not aero pieces, which provide function. These are just for looks. Seems like a waste of cash to me.

RCZ 04-12-2009 02:16 PM

absolute waste of cash.

Carbon Covers are for posers. Not to mention that a carbon replacement would weigh the same thing as the stock plastic ones....

Don't get me wrong. I love carbon fiber and the way it looks when it serves a real purpose.

SoCal 370Z 04-12-2009 02:20 PM

RCZ,

Are you holding out for the full-body 370Z CF cover kit? ;)

RCZ 04-12-2009 02:24 PM

haha only if its completely made out of vinyl and there is no carbon involved ;) jk

sigh, its so bad to add weight with carbon...its the ultimate poser move.

If I could replace a few bits with carbon I would though. Some body pieces would be nice to switch out like the hood. It's heavy and we need to take weight off the front/high on the car. If someone makes an actual carbon roof, I'd be all over that.

Maybe I should get some carbon fiber gaming mice for my computer? :P
I agree, carbon fiber is nice when it serves a purpose, but just getting it for looks is not.

frost 04-12-2009 03:01 PM

And I heard fake covers make Jesus cry. Just sayin. You don't want that baggage.

AK370Z 04-12-2009 04:19 PM

those pieces are genuine ZELE stuff.

HAHAHA:roflpuke2: dude I so dont need that on my conscious!:wtf2:

arcticreaver 04-13-2009 04:22 PM

honestly, the people who will get this will be because they want a different look to the car. it does not look bad. but if you have some scratched up pillars or mirrors, this might be a very cheap alternative to replacing those parts.

i for one, would like to get these for my pillars because i think the carbon fiber looks better than the black. i have a PG btw.

KameezGuru 04-21-2009 08:17 AM

I would much rather swap out the mirrors that are made in CF.

AARC51 04-22-2009 12:44 PM

Rice.

imag 04-22-2009 07:28 PM

If you're going to add weight to the car, might as well add some carbon fiber with some style::tup:
