christian370z 04-02-2011 01:31 AM

I'm still waiting on Rick to PM me pricing, but that makes me even more determined to snag one! In for the installed pictures.

NewYorkJon34 04-02-2011 01:55 AM

VQinside 04-02-2011 09:08 AM

The holes don't really match Ricks wing because it is aftermarket, but you will notice Ricks wing has evidence it was molded off a factory wing base. Depending on if you want to use the mount holes on Ricks wing, you'll have too drill 2 holes, one on each end. I will be trying to use the factory holes on the hatch and double stick tape the ends like the factory. Since the factory was pretty hard to remove I'm sure it shouldn't be a problem. I'll start the install in the morning. I'll take pics when I'm finished.
Here is Ricks wing. Awesome! Can't wait to put the mofo on!

So rick's wing ues the stock holes, but you need to either drill two new ones or just 3m double stick tape the two spots? Do the rest of the holes line up and are they usable?

cheshirecat 04-02-2011 01:41 PM

Really looking forward to Junior's pics.

You can tell where the holes were from the mold. What I did was use the stock clips and used epoxy to mount them on the wing after drilling holes for them on the wing. I didn't want to drill holes in my hatch for the bolt anchors toward the end of the wing.
I was so into trying to get the wing mounted I forgot to take pics of how I did it.

Anyways here's some pics of the color matched wing!

Damn, that looks sweet as hell......

Yeah i don't won't to drill my hatch, but drilling on the wing is not that big a deal.

Thanks for the info and pics, rep to you.

Do you think you could do a DIY on taking off the sport wing and installing this one?

That's ok on no pics, some write up on taking off old and installing new is better than no write up.

Man that looks sweet nice job! It almost like the front lip and the wing were meant for each other, maybe it is just me. Seems like it points right to it.

Thanks:tup: I do love the way they work together!

christian370z 04-02-2011 09:56 PM

Damn that looks good! The view from the front and side profiles are awesome, I still feel like the rounded end looks a bit off from the back though but you can never quite tell until it is seen in person.

cheshirecat 04-02-2011 10:13 PM

Love it. Looks perfect on your car, Junior.

Junior370z 04-02-2011 10:54 PM

Thanks guys!

christian370z 04-02-2011 10:56 PM

For those who are interested in seeing a less "pointy" version, I did a mild photoshop of what it might look like and I have to say, the OG looks a bit better in my eyes.

KaienZ34 04-02-2011 11:29 PM

I like the trimmed version better, it's has more of the stock lines.

NewYorkJon34 04-02-2011 11:47 PM

The pics look good, but the only problem with the wing is that crease in the middle of it, its like someone folded it down the middle.

XwChriswX 04-03-2011 01:53 PM

Nice job christian, but honestly, I'd like to see one thats almost completely flat along the top ridge to match the line going across the roof. Much the same as the old porche flares. I know its not a porche, but a good idea is a good idea...

Thats what I'd be interested in. Also a full on side profile shot from about door handle height...

I spoke to Rick today and am now trying to decide between the FRP or the carbon fiber version. I would not want to paint match it and want a dab of carbon fiber, but what do you guys think?

christian370z 04-04-2011 06:10 PM

That's what I was thinking, thanks guys! I will figure it out with Rick soon.

KaienZ34 04-04-2011 07:05 PM

I bought it super cheap and figured I could eventually mount it after getting it repainted but never did. It has been sitting in the garage for a couple months now lol.
