Amuse owners, got a question for u !!

Does the spoiler block your view? (can I get a picture looking at the rear windshield maybe)

Does the pattern matches the sprt wing or would I have to modify new holes?? Thanks in advance

Oh, see, if you get an Amuse kit, you HAVE to come to one of the Mid-Atlantic meets to show it off, man!

Yes it does. I'll snap a photo when I get home, if it's still light enough out to see.

You need to modify it. It's not a direct replacement.
Thanks in advance

Check out this album for lots of photos, one of them being a direct rear view shot.

I'm also getting the Amuse Wing for my Z as well. It is one bad a$$ wing, and expensive too.

Thanks Phelan!

Arc, I'm actually trying to see a picture from inside the car. But thanks for ur helpfulness !!

Arc 02-17-2011 08:40 PM

Tony, I kind of figured that you'd want to see it from the inside, but that's kind of hard to get a feel for without being in the car yourself. Well, that's what I feel about it.

Phelan, exactly what new modifications would be needed to secure the Amuse Wing? I haven't found anything about this info. I'll be getting my wing in a few weeks, but I'd like to know ahead of time since I didn't know about this.
One other question, does the wing simply sit over the 3rd brake light (meaning you don't have to remove the 3rd brake light) and the light is just "beamed" to the wing's brake light? I hope this isn't a confusing question. LOL

This is what I like about this forum. People spend money to enhance their cars and share their experiences. I get heat from some who think I've spent too much on the wrong things. But it is the individuals choice. $5K may seem like a lot but some folks want to stand out. The car stands out enough for me, if I'd wanted more I'd have taken red.

:iagree:

It's only money, the happiness it gives you is priceless  I rather die poor and lived a full life spending my money on what I want along the way than die rich and haven't done anything but save/hoard my money.

To get back on topic, I think you have to make a connection to that new light. As for visibility out the back, you can always just install a rear view camera if it's really that bad.

Honestly speaking I never liked the normal rear view visibility, its very limited.

Again IMO the visibility depends on your height and everything for me around 5'11 I can see a black line on top of the rear window so not exactly blocking anything for me. As the car behind me are visible in the lower part so mainly the sky is blocked

So if you divide the rear window in ten parts from top to bottom, first top part might be blocked for you

You have to remove the bake light and it will cover that part smoothly, some of my holes were closed previously for my S tune spoiler so this time it fitted covering everything, but just check again with someone who is installing thins in place of OEM sports one.

Even the Nismo spoiler sits right in the middle of your view. You get over it though and learn to use the side mirrors, turning your head, and the rear visibility that you do have...

For the look, it's well worth it.

phelan 02-18-2011 12:59 AM

Hey tony, sorry I will get a picture for you first thing tomorrow morning, before I leave for work. I had a late shift, so by the time I got home there was no light ><

To reinforce docaam, Arc - the bolt pattern is different. You need to remove (obviously) the sport spoiler, fill the holes (or leave them alone since they'll be covered), then drill some new ones. I removed my brake light because you'll need the connector into the brake light on the wing. So there's a big ol' empty hole in there right now :rofl2:

Hope it helps! Like JJ-NISMO said, though, rear view visibility on this car is already pretty limited, and I've learned to get used to looking through the side mirror. I do disagree a bit, I think the wing covers up maybe a good 15-20% of your visibility out of the rear, all on the top. So you lost a bit of your distance in the rear view mirror. But you should be able to compensate for it pretty easily. You'll get used to it.

edit: FAAAACK i forgot ><'

sorry! post it on my windshield to do it tonight somehow after class

Thanks for some of your insight Phelan.
I'm just a little concerned about how well the Amuse Wing prevents water (whether it be from rain or a wash) from leaking into your trunk.

The other issue I can think of regarding the limited rear view window with the Amuse Wing attached, is just keeping a look out for State Patrols coming from behind.
I guess I will have to keep to the speed limit if I can't see directly behind me. LOL

docaam 02-20-2011 12:34 AM

Ok man took some pictures for you. just consider the fact that I was travelling faster then both the cars so there is bit of difference in locations of the car in two shots.

First set shows a truck visible from side mirror but not in the rear view because of being blocked by the upper lip.

Here a Porsche SUV visible from both side and rear mirrors.
