Carbon Fiber Illuminated Kickplates

2 Attachment(s)
So I got my illum kick plates and shipped them to Carbon Element, after waiting 2 weeks for customs to release them and have them charge me 35$ for something I already owned and bought in Canada (blows my mind how this is legal), I finally got them back this morning.

I think Tony did an amazing job, and I'll put more pics up once I have them back in the car and lit up. let me know what you guys think.

Thanks for the great work Tony.

Did you buy the kick plates in the states? Did you already paid duty?
If yes, go file a refund and you shall get your $35 back.

Also, who charged you the $35? Canada customs or a courier such as UPS?

I had this situation once, where customs was trying to charge me $ for something i sent to USA for repair. After 2-3 phone calls I got my money back from both customs and the courier (Who also charged me $20 brokerage fee on top)

The illum kickplates where bought online from cjannik on this site.

I paid duty on them the first time I purchased them.

Then they were sent to the USA for Carbon wrapping (which I claimed was repair) and I was charged customs a fee based on the original value of the kickplates when they were sent back to me.

When I explained this to the lady at the post office she gave me 2 forms and a copy of the receipt which I will have to include in order to 'maybe' get a refund.

Good to know things worked out in your story, I hope for a similar result here/

Thanks for the positive comments on the Kickplates, I think they look phemoninal and the orinigal kickplates are a pretty weak and crappy illuminum which dents and scratches easily so this is a great upgrade!

Those are hot, I'm a sucker for Carbon Fiber

I try to use USPS whenever I have to ship anything to the states or receive, typically duty free

LOL, thanks a lot man, I appreciate the compliment.

As soon as I saw Tony's CF work I knew I had to get my Kickplates wrapped.. I can't wait to get them in the car and see how great the illuminated Z looks against the CF.

Very nice. I need to get some things done but just waiting to get the things out of the car and get it shipped

Yeah Canadian customs can be a pain. I bought my 350z in Canada, MOVED down to California for 18 months for work and modded my car, MOVED back to Canada and car got locked up for 10 months while they tried to charge me for Smuggling (parts)... Criminal Offence. After 10 months I got off of it and had to pay just over $30k in duty and taxes. If I didn't pay it they would either take the car or throw me to jail.

BS.

Prosport Gauges 02-09-2011 09:56 AM

Tony could have put "Replacement parts" on the box and there would be no customs fees.

Or "Gift"

Ryan

Red__Zed 02-09-2011 02:36 PM

Jjaden 02-09-2011 04:04 PM

Holy crap man, if I had to go through something like I might go postal and take out as many customs agents as possible before turning the gun on myself. It's honestly criminal the crap they get away with.
