Finished my headlights "finally"

I have been working on my lights on and off for about a week and a half.
Just got them finished and put on so I thought you guys would like a peek.

I heated them up to 260 deg for 10 minutes and pulled the lens off
after unscrewing the housing and shroud I used easy off oven cleaner in the "yellow can" to strip the chrome off the housings so the paint would adhere better and still show all the small lines on the housing.
The housing and shrouds were painted with QAB pearl white with a black accent stripe but I felt they needed a special touch so I put a very small "Z" emblem in the front to try to break up the white, last I installed chrome/amber turn signal bulbs to remove the yellow.

Let me know what you think.

take advantage of having them off and put leds where those little indents go down the top of the light.

Your right, it isn't your car. Go do something to yours and post it here. At least he spent his time on his car and not flat out insulting people.

Looks good. The Z emblem is a nice touch. I'd like to see a pic of it further away?

Ron 01-15-2011 10:25 PM

We all have different tastes, so things I like might not be what you or the OP likes... I just said I am not feeling the headlights..After all, he asked for our opinion, didn't he? I do not see how what I said is flat out insulting..but I guess I am sorry if that is how it came across...

NewYorkJon34 01-15-2011 10:40 PM

****, thats the same thing i was planning to do to my headlights as well. Take some pics of the completed project.

SPOHN 01-15-2011 10:45 PM

yesssssss looks good.

Z1804 01-16-2011 04:19 AM

They look good Frank. Can't wait to see them in person. It's nice to see you take the time to do something different to you car. At times, our 370Z community can get very trendy about looks and car parts. Regardless, I respect the fact that you take the time to baby and work on your own car. I don't have the skills or bravery to take that chance.

+1 rep

BTW, there's a GTG this afternoon by Perimeter Mall. I know you can't bring the Z, but you should come out if you can. Let me know when you want me to drop off your calendar.

Thanks James it isn't that hard but very tedious and time consuming the attention to detail is a must as far as the "Z" emblem they were both straight but after getting wrestling the head lights back together they are only off a little the camera makes it look allot worst than it appears.
For those of you wondering were the small factory "z" emblem came from if you have a 2010 look on your key fob.:ughdance:

toxik 01-16-2011 08:54 AM

looks great bro, i love it

SPOHN 01-16-2011 10:52 AM

Now your saying you put them in the oven at 260? Some say 210. What do you think? I guess it would be a scary thought of melting. But I guess it worked out fine.

cdoxp800 01-16-2011 11:11 AM

Very nice.

260 is the max,yes it starts to get plyable but @ 250 for 10 min it was hardening up too quick when removing the lens so it had to be put back in to heat it up some more to finish removing it.

The 2ND headlight was in @ 260 for 10 min which gave me enough time for my wife to hold it :icon17:and me to slow remove the lens in one shot.

I would but the cable guy is coming to install cable.:ughdance:

Z2nv 01-17-2011 12:02 PM

i did mine at 215 for 12-15 mins, came apart perfect.. I did halos on my g35 so ive done it before, fairly easy.. just make sure they seal good bcause no one likes the condisation in the head lights.

saber 01-17-2011 12:05 PM

Huh. Not too fond of the Z logo there actually. Just seems to be that little touch extra that (yes it sets it apart but) looks out of place.

Other than that, it's pretty nice. Would like to see it installed though, just curious to see if it becomes overbearing on the rest of the car. Do you have different color accents on the front of the car to set it off?

Cell 01-17-2011 12:18 PM

Any full size pics of the whole car with the bumper on? I was thinking about getting mine done with white on white.

superman 01-17-2011 12:28 PM

Yeah I don't like it without the hamburger on the bumper ,I'm putting mine back on.
I have a company that works with our body shop who removes all the double sided tape and laser cuts new double sided tape the exact size and shape as oem and installs it on the used emblem and they charged me $10.00:ughdance:
