Well, I don't know how the tint installer could have done that. When I took delivery the sun was down, and honestly I didn't notice it. I was there when they backed the car in. All they do after that, is pop the hatch. They called me within minutes of dropping the car off to inform me, and I've done business w/them for years. I think when they waxed it (the dealer), perhaps the guy got carried away with the buffer.

370zproject 12-13-2010 02:12 PM

long as they fix it for free.. or it may be totaled

chuckd05 12-13-2010 07:48 PM

thats ridiculous... someone caused that.. whomever it was didnt fess up to it...

A buddy of mine picked up a brand new altima from a dealer by me and they told him the day he was going to pick it up that a car washer opened his door into a wall in the shop, how I have no idea but put a very small ding in the door... He wanted a specific color and they didnt have this exact car, and he demanded that color and didnt want a new car resprayed...

they gave him a more equipped altima at the same lease price becuase of it.. Thats how things should work..

If they tint guy did that they are scumbags and if the dealer did it , they are scumbags... one of the two parties you dealt with are scumbags..

sucks...

UPDATE:

Dealer called me after dropping the car off today. They said to make it look perfect, they have to remove the entire rear hatch, and paint it as a stand alone piece. I said as long as they use OEM paint, and it doesn't leak in the rain...I'll be happy.

Now, it seems that I'm starting to worry about them F'ing something else up....sheesh.

The GM said they could remove/reinstall the rear glass. I'm skeptical for various reasons.

1. Is it possible to remove the rear glass without creating tool marks on the edge of the glass?
2. Is it possible to remove the rear glass without F'ing up the tint?

Too much drama. They're taking the car back, and returning my trade in.

Time to start over fresh. The short time I had the Z, man...it exceeded my expectations. Now, I dunno what to do.

chuckd05 12-18-2010 07:31 AM

Really ? Lol.

Damn. That's a crazy reason to give up a car entirely. Body shops do that work daily. I would just have them give you another z. Zs hard to beat for it's price.

slammiam 12-18-2010 09:21 AM

I'm getting another Z. Just from a different dealer. Probably about a week from now...

2011 Gm/sport/touring/nav

Kinda funny you wanted OEM paint considering how everybody is going F*CK THE OEM PAINT :rofl2:

glad to hear you're getting a new Z tho!

slammiam 12-18-2010 07:06 PM

Well...I have the new Z on order. Should be here next Wed. In the mean time, they gave me a '10 touring+nav to drive with 9 miles on it.

Looks like it worked out pretty good. This one is being trucked. They wanted to drive it from 250 miles, and I said "no way". So...I had them write, "transporting the vehicle via truck" on the "we owe". Finally...I can rest. The deal feels a lot more "right".

Xpel clearbra going on it as soon as it gets to my garage.

The funny part of today was when I went to pick up my Trade-in from the old dealer. They told me, "you know...legally we could have made you keep the vehicle since you signed the paperwork". I thought about brushing it off, but the jab sort of got under my skin, so I had to quip, "and you would have had a fun time discussing it with my pre-paid lawyer, and I would have publicized it...what would that do for business?".

Yeah, childish...but F-it.

Installer guy!!! :shakes head:

christian370z 12-18-2010 07:31 PM

The ironic thing is that those scratches look like they could have been removed with a bit of polishing. It seems everything worked out really well for you, a clean slate is always nice!

370zproject 12-19-2010 12:21 PM

yep

slammiam 01-14-2011 12:14 PM

Ok, so this quest finally came to an end yesterday. Supposedly, I have the only 2011 Gun Metallic in the SE region :)

(A/T Touring/Sport/Nav)

Love the color!
