Nissan 350Z Z33 370Z 22MM Racing Black Tow Hook New - eBay (item 230494017953 end time Dec-27-10 10:21:34 PST)

They have them in all types of colors. I think they add some style to the car. What do you guys think

I never understood why people install those. I've never thought to myself, "if only I had a tow hook on the front of my car". What are they actually for?

SmoothZ 12-02-2010 10:44 PM

I have mine out and in plain view. I like it there, and it seems to be a conversation piece. I'd like to think that if something ever happens to the Z and a tow truck is needed, then the tow truck driver will be smart enough to use it.

mainly look, but i guess they help with towing too, i already had my car flat bed towed and it hurts to see them strap it down under the suspension, but again, mostly for an aggresive tuner look

Don't get the cheaper ones like this one, it will end up rusting really quickly.

quagmire87 12-02-2010 11:00 PM

i powder coated mine to a better red i like it and i got it for $27 im not going to pay $250 for one thats for sure!

ddvette9 12-02-2010 11:04 PM

where did you get yours for 27 bucks.

and how do you know this will rust?

Some people think tow hooks are useless until you need it, kinda like a fire extinguisher. Wait til you hydroplane or run off the road or race track one day. I ran my porsche 911 off the track and tore the rear bumper and exhaust trying to pull it out of the brush.

I agree. You want an alluminum one.

Doesn't the Z have one with the trunk tools? I can't remember but I know my last car had one. I think the tow hook is mostly for looks. But functional when they pull the car up on a flat bed. They don't use the tow hook to strap the car down, just pull it.

If anything like that ever happens, you have a tow hook in your trunk :p

Yeah but then you don't look like a racecar, ready to crash and be towed back to the pits.

Naa... he'll just wrap the strap over the panels between the fangs.
