Has anyone painted their door handles to match the body?

I took my car to a shop to check on having the door handles painted body color. After the owner looked at them he told me if they were in fact chrome it would be difficult to keep the paint on without problems. Chrome apparently isn't the best thing to paint.

I've also thought about powder coating them in satin black. Either way you would have to take them off the car to do it right.

would overlay'ing work, or would it get stuck in the hinge part??

I was thinking overlays would be a good option...But I'm not sure if they would work

Do we know the handles are metal? If they are plastic, powder coating won't end well.

Going to bump this thread up to find out for a fact what the door handles are made of, or if anyone has had them painted yet?

Bump again. I'm also wondering what to do about the badges. I want to black this thing out...

A plater can strip the chrome and get it ready for painting/powdercoating.

Just need to figure out how to get them off I guess...

The door handles are plastic guys. If you pull the door handle into the open position you can see that the tool marks from the molds are inside the handle.

I remember this being a popular mod with the 350 guys and if I recall correctly I believe the handles on my 350 were the same as on my 370 (in so far as the material goes at least). That being said, there is a wealth of information on the my350z forums.

I see one major difference of course and that is the intelli key lock button. I'm not sure if this would pose a problem or not but it is something I would be concerned about.

Interested to see pics by anyone who gives this a go.

Should it not be really easy to get some new handles made from black plastic / colored plastic to match the body color? I guess vinyl would work but honestly - I cant wait to shave em off and have it be smooth as a baby's butt :)
