Visible Light Transmission Percentage

Anyone know what the VLT% of the stock windows is?

smurfblu13 03-16-2009 11:36 PM

I don't know for sure.. but I think most stock windows come with a 70% tint?

70% tint must mean 70% VLT a 30% VLT would be too dark, right?

Darkness of tint is measured by Visible Light Transmission percentage (VLT%). In Florida, this percentage refers to percentage of visible light allowed in through the combination of film and the window.

Windshield: Non-reflective tint is allowed along the top of the windshield above the manufacturer's AS-1 line.

Front Side Windows: Must allow more than 28% of light in.

Back Side Windows: Must allow more than 15% of light in.

Rear Window: Must allow more than 15% of light in.

I was trying to figure out the darkest I can make it and still be legal.

Simply go to one the more popular, and experienced window tinters in your area as they have will know exactly what passes, and what does not since they also spend time stripping window tint from those vehicles that do not pass.
