Amuse Ti Harness Bar
We got our first Amuse Titanium Harness Bar in the US and it's sick...
We'll bring it to the Downey meet on Nov 11th for those who are going to check it out. http://i601.photobucket.com/albums/t...702resized.jpg http://i601.photobucket.com/albums/t...703resized.jpg http://i601.photobucket.com/albums/t...704resized.jpg -Mike |

Actually, we brought it in for stock so no one has claimed it yet. We were tired of waiting for someone to order it so we brought it in to check it out
Ya, I thought I heard that Baker got one in a while ago. This is the first one for us though :) -Mike |

This bar has mounting points on BOTH sides so would work for harnesses in any 370z. The install is fairly easy if you take your time and if anyone has any questions about doing it just PM me and ill be happy to explain. /props to you guys for getting the new version of the bar. It is a sight to behold in person. |
Looks nice
|
Correct Mozen, the Baker Tuning bar was the original one in the US and I think the original purpose was designed to fit both US/JDM cars with flipping it over, but I think in the end most people want the ability to have 2 harness connections.
|
I'm actually not sure if that's a new 'version' of the Amuse bar or not. I've been told it is an option that Amuse will oblige with upon request. But the official bar remains for the RHD Z34 only.

btw Mike e-mail me balance remaining for me, will ya? |

Also, from what I was told the RHD Amuse bar is suppose to work with LHD cars. |
I fapped.
Poor Phelan, this is like crack to him LOL |

However it is a sexy @$$ bar for sure :happydance: I would sport that bad boy all day. I think the only complaint from them was that the harness points were on the wrong side and wished for them to be on the US spec Driver left side or have harness points for both parties in the car. And WaA-LA now its fixed. Soon after realizing it totally does not matter because the bar is a total work of art not doubt :happydance: Edit: I am really a sucker for Ti. . |
OMG v.v how much is this?!

unfortunatly Dreamer the RHD bar that i got from Baker Tuning is not reversible, thats why i was suggesting people get this bar if they are thinking of any of them because this is the one that will let you get a harness behind the driver. The one i have when you flip it , the eye bolts for the harness are now facing up. Its something to do with the way the bar bolts in on the end. I did a writeup on it a while ago. Im thinking of either selling the one i have to someone who wants it for show then buying this one or just throwing in a roll bar. |
Mike I will give you a call about the harness bar this afternoon. I may want it in the car for SEMA ;)
|
Wow! That is such a nice piece. Any pictures of it installed?
|
Is something like this really safe in the event of a crash on the track?

Looks hot.
Where does this bar mount? Not to be a downer but if it's rather low in relation to your shoulders it may not be ideal. Too low and you could have spine compression in an accident. Here is the SFI Belt Mounting Guide from the Sparco site. |
It replaces the stock bar that runs behind the seats.

It's actually not as expensive as I thought it would be. Still too much for me though.
I agree with G fo12ce. This may not be ideal mounting position but it definitely looks nice. Still waiting on installed pics. |
Nevermind. Google is your friend.

Those photo's makes me think maybe it's ok. Especially with the racing shell since it can be much lower in the car. On the stock seat pic it's hard to see how much recline there is.
It would be cool if who ever bought that one could come back here and measure it. I'm sure it would help the sales if it was close to the 5 degrees mentioned on the SFI guide. |
Sooo the harness bar is spoken for ;)

That is what Takata recommends. A popular place for belts to be mounted is in between the cushions of the rear seat, and this is generally acceptable. This topic has been argued time and time again, but it's just about what seat beat manufacturer you trust I guess. Let me know if you ever hear of anyone with a compressed spine :) -Mike |

How much load a seat back can handle plays a roll in how extreme an angle you can mount your shoulder harnesses. That's what will protect your back from taking the force instead. I would be really surprised if anyone knew how much downward force the OEM Nissan seat has been tested to handle, or even an aftermarket seat for that matter. That Takata diagram shows more angle compared to what I've seen, but I'm not going to say it's bad or 100% wrong. It also may apply differently when mounting like you said further back on rear seat anchors. Maybe I'm not a sled test engineer but when everyone else's diagram shows less angle and they are referencing data with crash test dummies you have to think about it. Like you said, maybe it's just about who you trust. I agree Takata is a respectable brand however, Simpson doesn't recommend more than 10 deg angle. Schroth (page 12) more than 20 deg (depending on the seat). Sabelt makes the Sparco belts and I already referred to their info and I know those belts are FIA and SFI homologated. Like you, I used to sell this stuff when I worked for Sparco. I think when you talk safety equipment you need to make an educated decision and I was just trying to share info so people who have never had a racing harness don't make a life threatening mistake when mounting. Personally I'd go with the mounting position more widely referred to as opposed to what looks on the extreme side. I've seen some Japanese company that make a bar that mounts kind of low near the shelf below the map pockets. I couldn't remember if that was the Amuse bar (I know it's not now), that why I asked above. I wasn't trying to trash your product. I already said the position of the Amuse bar looks pretty good in the pics so in the end, this belt mounting angle discussion is probably a non-issue as it pertains to what you are selling. As a fan of JDM stuff I think it's cool that you guy bring that stuff in. |
Does anyone have a pic of harnesses actually acttached to this bar? Instead of looping the harnesses around the bar, it screws in?
|
You have to buy the eye bolts separate, you can check on the belt manufacturers website, most sell the stuff as well, also, you will need a harness that has the hooks deal instead of the wrap around sort.
