LMAO, yes as long as your not up front or by your self your good, now keep in mind their is alot of types of radar, the one I told you about and then theres ones then track first and second cars but those are really expensive and not everyone has one. and one that uses a laser called LIDAR look it up thats really expensive and you can only use it by holding it like a gun and aiming it at the vehicle you are tracking.

I don't mean to question, but doesn't your radar manufacturer state that 'popping' your radar gun is not sufficient to get an accurate reading as the gun may not read properly immediately on coming out of standby?

/thank you for your service to the community, sometimes it's a thankless job

Small update.

My 2014 has black/red, black/white and black/yellow wires.

Black invisicord goes to black/white, red goes to black red.

I just popped out the harness from the mirror and tapped the invisicord in. Easier to work with then trying to tap in with the wire harness still in the mirror.

Just to clarify...your Homelink and auto dimming still works?

You bet.

I love this place. I needed to know the correct wires to tap and boom, results on the forum!

Guys I wouldnt really throw your money away on one of these. Police have a little button on the radar that turns it on and stand by mode, When in stand by mode the detctor will not pick up the radar, but when they take it off stad by it will but by then its too late BC they already got you clocked.

With that being said each to there own, it up to you just my 2 Cents.:stirthepot:

Radar detectors aren't foolproof. They don't guarantee you won't get pinched for speeding. All radar detectors do is give you an edge. I've had 5 Escorts or V1s since my 1980 280ZX. They have saved me countless tickets over the years. Not all of them...I've had a few...but last year alone, "Instant On" and everything, my PassPort saved me from getting two tickets, and that's about right...two tickets a year. It has MORE than paid for itself.

I am going to get a smaller box to make it a little lower profile. But it works good and nothing on the dash.

swj123, just out of curiosity, why are you using MY avatar which is a picture of MY car as your own avatar? Seems odd, and just a little like bad form.

cooltoy 01-28-2015 02:48 PM

I am sure he had no idea it was YOUR car. He just probably found a picture of a black car and used it. Now that the knows, he probably will change the pictures to someone's else car.:icon23:

Working on hook up. Point of clarification. Do you remove the black and white and black and red wires, and replace them with the new black and red wires?
If so, mine seem to be really in there very tight like they are clamped in or locked.

FYI, '14, touring/sport
Sitting in the driveway sweating bullets over this. In Houston and pretty hot.

Done for the nite due to darkness, but some guys on the Houston Zs gave me a tip to try tomorrow. Open the connector with a key. Insert the wires together. Red and black with red in the same hole and black and white with the white wire. Snap the connector back together. Then done.
I'll add pics of this part as well.

Does anyone know what wires to tap into for cars equipped with the OEM backup cam?

Filipe 11-27-2016 05:26 PM

For those of you who hardwired dash cams into your mirror using the inviscord, did you go with the fuse option?
