I agree with you on this one. Hope they make kits that are just as good as the audis.

seriously, how is this not a DIY guide yet?

I did this to my RSX, baked the headldights, opened em up, sanded and painted the inserts black(were chrome), re-seal with real tight clamps and sealant, trim away protruding sealeant,walla..........blacked out JDM headlights for 10 bucks insteed of 500

I give credit to anyone that will back your lights open. Its doable but sometimes there will
be a leak thereafter, moisture.

tvfreakazoid 03-30-2009 05:07 PM

yea that would suck if it wasn't on properly that over time it will fog up and moister gets in there.

Zpil0t6 03-31-2009 07:56 AM

i did this with one of my GTO's i made one look exactly as it did before pontiac got hold of it a" Holden manaro." and the front lens are a different shape that fit on the pontiacs backs......so i got hold of the front Lens for a few bucks and did the conversion....

But overtime i saw that some silicone had deteriorated and i had some minor Bumper work and the red paint got inside the lens.... URRGG! No moisture though.....the hole was big enough to let it breathe.....lol. So that was a pain....redoing them and cleaning the paint off the inside.

I would be more worried of the fogging... No carwashes for these conversions guys!

handwash only..

just some thing to watch IF you are gonna do this..

Only idiots would run their Z through an auto-wash anyway

I wouldn't run a brand new 370 through a auto wash, but more power to anyone who wants to. It's not a lambo, it's a $30K car.

I've done about half a dozen RSX lights this way, and never got any moisture in there.

THe key is re-sealing and using real tight clamps to re-seal while you bake them again a little ot get the sealant to "get gooey" again to let the clamps let it all seal again.....

Do you mean the sprayer or the one where you sit in it and the brush hits you?

I have to go to a bay in order to wash mine since I live in a condo but I do handwash it in there, really pisses off people.

I'm talking about the brush ones. If I go to a carwash I always get the handwash. Danny's is great for that.

3rd party handwash can be even worse for your paint than the brushes are. Their dirty towels can leave all kinds of scratches and swirls. The only good wash is the one that you do yourself, in-between I stay with the "touchless" washes even though they kind of suck in terms of getting you all the way clean.

Now I know what my Z has been missing. Are you selling the display or just making the rest of us feel left out. Wow!

juan05 04-10-2009 11:04 PM

hey how much did it cost you to change the lights?
